The owner speaks excellent English and was very helpful throughout our stay. We had a room next to the bathroom which made using the shared facilities easier (but being Japan these are very clean). The owner offered us some plum wine as a welcome. Parking is in a line outside the house so you need to juggle cars a bit but it wasn't a problem as the owner was always on hand. Excellent air con which is essential in the summer hear. The property was excellent value and perfectly located for the centre of Matsushima. The property could probably benefit from a common area with coffee / tea making so there is somewhere to sit aside from the rooms. There is such a room but I think it is still being developed.

Featuring free property-wide WiFi, a spa centre and a seasonal outdoor pool, Matsushima Ichinobo offers accommodation in Matsushima. The room (I had the basic level option) was gigantic for Japan, with a huge picture window and a view to die for. To say I was blown away upon arrival would be an understatement. The hotel is spacious and uncrowded. I suspect it caters almost exclusively to the Japanese market so some instructions were on rather informal notes, or simply only in Japanese. The rate is breakfast and dinner included but also includes unlimited alcohol from 7pm and coffee/tea/refreshments all day with an icecream bar in the late morning and afternoon. The silence and sleep quality was superb as was the bathroom with shower.

The best is the private Onsen with view to the bay, absolutely stunning. The staff is superattentive and they axplain everything in english. The atmosphere in the hotel is quiet and chilling. Brekkie is very good and varies fron day to day. Parkibg is in front of the hotel or 100m on a hotel parking

The hosts and staff were very friendly and welcoming, and made the stay really enjoyable. It is a hostel, but it is well kept and the common area is pretty nice to hang out and talk.

Overnatningsstedet ligger 12 km fra Osabe-minato og har aircondition, privat parkering på stedet samt gratis wi-fi. wonderful hospitality in an authentic traditional japanese house. the owners, who leaves in the oposite house, are so kind and eager to help. it is a true guest house, with 3 rooms on the upper floor (fan only), 2 of them are dormitory rooms, and beautiful air conditioned communal space on the 1st floor. the conmunal space is really outstanding, with swing hanging from the ceiling, a fireplace and a traditional section with hearth for coocking. a lot of menga books everywhere. the owners uses google translate to comunicate and have so warm hospitality. when we wanted to go out in the evening it was rainy, so they helped us make take out reservation, and even went out to buy us beers!!! highly recommended experience.
