Kusatsu Onsen Eidaya is located in Kusatsu. The property is a 10-minute walk from Kusatsu Yubatake and Kusatsu-Onsen Bus Terminal. It is a Japanese style inn with retro vibes. Their private onsen's water comes from the very hot spring source of Kusatsu and therefore you can experience the hot spring water without going to the public baths if you are shy. We mostly used them at night when the town's baths are closed since the inn's are 24/7 open. I would recommend to book a japanese style room as it has it's tatami and according decoration and together with the inn's yukata (there is an opt for a colorful one and geta to rent) it gives a more japanese experience. We liked that the inn had slippers for going outside which was convenient as the whole town is full with onsens (even ones that are only for feet) and therefore is more convenient to move in slippers. They have a game area with a lot of retro game (even arcade games) and Nintendo SFC System Video Game Console in the rooms. It may not be in the centre of the town (around 10 min walk for either yubatake or Sainokawara Park and open onsen) but is very close to it and also they offer pick up/drop off from the bus terminal. Staff were very friendly and helped with everything we needed. In our next visit to Kusatsu we are definitely staying there!

Can I say everything?! Yuko and Gabrielle are wonderful hosts and Yuko patiently helped us with our future plans, guiding us from afar long after we had left. The food is delicious, the house is sublime. The most beautiful place we stayed in 2.5 months in Japan, so thoughtfully decorated and very comfortable.

Set in Takasaki, 28 km from Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park, Ryutakuzenji 宿坊 offers accommodation with free bikes, free private parking, a garden and a bar. Very Special Place we will return! Very peaceful.

Minakamisansou er staðsett í Minakami, aðeins 36 km frá Gala Yuzawa-skíðadvalarstaðnum og býður upp á gistirými með aðgangi að baði undir berum himni, sameiginlegri setustofu og lyftu. We had a lovely view of the mountains. The private onsen was very nice, but the public onsen is very good as well! The staff is very nice and always accomodating. If you like traditional Japanese food, you'll love what they serve during the evening and morning. I recommend to stay at this ryokan either during fall (momiji) or winter. We were a bit too early for the heavy snowfalls, but still managed to catch some snow the second evening. Even without the snow it was lovely. I can imagine it looks amazing with the fall colors!

This ryokan was the highlight of our trip to Japan. Excellent seasonal and varied breakfast options, with an attention to detail unparalleled in my travel experience. The soaking pools met our hopes and needs perfectly, and we preferred the private rooms to any of the town’s public onsens. Our room was very comfortable and quiet, and the location was great—away from the hustle and bustle of the main square. Staff were incredible—helpful, welcoming, and friendly despite our limited Japanese language skills! Would highly recommend for a quiet, peaceful stay.

Sekizenkan Kashotei Sanso er 4 stjörnu gististaður í Nakanojo, 36 km frá Ishidan-gai-tröppunum. Boðið er upp á bað undir berum himni. Gistirýmið er með loftkælingu og er 49 km frá Naeba-skíðasvæðinu. It was the most perfect stay I've had in my life. Will definitely come again. The beauty of the room itself and of the view exceeded all expectations. The service was exceptional. I've spent hours in my private onsen and relaxed after Tokyo.

Houshi Onsen Chojukan er staðsett við Houshi-ána og býður upp á almenningsjarðvarmabað, gistirými í japönskum stíl með ókeypis WiFi og japanska matargerð. Beatiful onsen. The bath is one of the best I’ve experienced in Japan.

Oyado Tamaki býður upp á jarðvarmaböð innan- og utandyra og hefðbundinn garð með bekkjum þar sem gestir geta setið og slakað á. Everything was good/amazing.

Takaragawa Onsen Osenkaku er hótel í japönskum stíl og státar af heitum laugum í fallegu umhverfi við Takaragawa-ána. Það er í 10 mínútna akstursfjarlægð frá Hodaigi-skíðadvalarstaðnum. Best place I have ever been in Japan. Will come again for sure in late Summer :).
