Also, you can rent a bike in the guesthouse (100 yens per hour) to go to the beach or somewhere else. I recommend using a bike because the taxis are too expensive and there seemed to be only one bus to go to the beach.

The connection is perfect, just 20 minutes by JR train from Fukuoka Hakata station. The scenery around is nice: hills, big dam, temple, and a well-kept garden. The staff is friendly and creates a welcoming atmosphere. Breakfast and dinner were traditional and very well served in handmade porcelain bowls. We were in Japan for three weeks in various hotels. This accommodation and food was the best we had. Great experience.

Picked us up from the station, even drove us to another station, 20 mins away, to get our JR train on departure.
