Angie is the most amazing host! The jungle house she build is awesome and we've had a wonderful stay. Angie is well connected and can help arrange tours and transport. She has some great suggestions on where to eat and things to do on and off the island.  The community living on Bastimentos is lovely and the town feels like something out of an adventure novel. The house is situated right on the jungle trail to Wizard Beach, where you have a chance to spot birds and wildlife. Mere 50m from the house you have Mami's Restaurant, who is somewhat of a mother figure in town and is a great cook! There is also a small nature reserve an adventurous 20min walk from the house which is a must see on Bastimentos. Although it first looks like a garden, the reserve is a gateway to the jungle on the island. Within an hour or so we've seen sloth, capuchin monkeys, cayman and redfrogs. Also Mami's super sweet dog aptly named Princess might show up at the house and demand cuddles. She is somewhat of a local celebrity and you'd best abide.

I met the manager of the accomodation, the night before I stayed there and was informed that the room I had reserved had been double booked. The manager told me that she would try to correct this problem and text me via WhatsApp regarding my status. At around midnight, she texted me that I could stay at the place. However, the unit where I could stay on the first night was smaller and different from the one I originally selected. I would be able to move to the selected unit on my second day. She did not offer to discount my price for the 1 night downgrade. Both units were clean and comfortable, but the unit I initially selected was much larger with a separate room for the kitchen and spare bed.

Suyi & JJ are wonderful hosts maintain a clean comfortable Caribbean house. They made us feel welcome during our 4 nights. They live nearby & grew up in the village which reassured us. They also provided helpful general safety tips for the area. Communication was great. Suyi provided detailed directions with videos to find the house. It was nice that they both checked in with us throughout our stay to ensure we were ok whilst also respecting our space to relax. The house is a spacious 2 bedrooms; a nice change to staying in a hotel. It’s built on stilts & nestled in the path leading to the 20 minute jungle hike to Wizard beach. We were lucky with the climate - the jungle was dry and it was safe to swim (it can be known to be muddy with riptides). Life is colourful & lively amongst the local community. There are many things to observe from the balcony; the neighbours’ passion for music throughout the day, the animals, and the sea view. The spacious wraparound balcony was incredible to appreciate morning coffee. Other highlights: Big walk-in shower, wood flooring, dimmable ceiling lights, American fridge with filtered rainwater and ice maker. Good Wi-Fi connection, Spacious lounge with comfortable sofas. The AC worked well from both bedrooms along with the lounge ceiling fans. Hot water was great. We didn’t have cleaning/fresh linens during the 4 nights; but if we stayed longer we might have asked if it could be arranged. The kitchen is well equipped. The filter coffeemaker, cutlery, basic utensils/cutlery were useful even though we opted to dine out as to not invite jungle critters. Suyi’s mum also offers laundry service, and we booked our boat taxi with her father back to Bocas. The location is convenient. There are a couple of mini supermarkets within 5-10 minutes walk of the house. A handful of restaurants are less than 15 minutes walk, as is the main port for taxi boats.

Everything about the property was fantastic. Great location, the size of the rooms and common areas were very comfortable. And it is located in a great part of the island with some privacy. Also, Karen was a fantastic and incredibly responsive and personable host.

The property is like an oasis in the middle of the island. The cabin is amazing. Hosts are friendly and welcoming.

I did a lot of research before choosing Sol Bungalows and came in with really high expectations.. those expectations were quickly exceeded across the board. I’m not kidding!! Easily the best food we’ve had on the entire trip. The breakfast was incredible… you need to try the smoothie bowls. I’d also highly recommend the dinner option and cocktails. The accommodations are brand new and offer 5 star luxury right on the water. The location is perfect, extremely safe, and only 5 min boat taxi from everything. We stayed 3 nights but wish we stayed a few more given how much there is to do nearby. You can even paddle to the Blue Coconut for a few drinks! Drew and Tamara took care of every detail during our stay and even organized a last minute shuttle service to Boquete on the last day when ours fell through. We’re extremely grateful for the hospitality and hope to come back again one day!!
