I adored the artworks, the pool looked beautiful in photos and turned out to be even better in person, the garden and the food were perfect finishing touches, and the cleanliness and comfort of my room and kindness and attentiveness of hotel staff made it truly a stay to remember!

Featuring an outdoor swimming pool and views of mountain, Blue Garden Yogyakarta is a recently renovated guest house located in Yogyakarta, 11 km from Museum Sonobudoyo. The hotel is well-located and not far from Yogyakarta city center which is quite busy. We appreciated the quietness and the place (the view on rice fields is amazing). The room we had was comfy and clean. Robert is a friendly host and is always available when needed and very arranging. I also enjoyed the discussions I had with him and learning about his life! It really felt like we were at home.

We stayed here for 2 nights so we could get to Prambanan Temple early which was totally worth it - we were there by ourselves and it wasn’t too hot.

ViaVia Guesthouse is located in Yogyakarta, a 15-minute drive from the lively Malioboro shopping street and Yogyakarta Palace. It features free internet, a café and rooms with modern décor. The highlight of this place are the people who work there. All the girls and guys at the reception are kind, smiling and ready to help with anything you ask (I needed to visit a dentist for a broken tooth when I was there...). They speak good English. The second highlight is the garden, with beautiful plants and cozy seating, and a pool if you want to cool down. Breakfast is not included with the dorm bed, it's Rp 35k (sweet toast or omellette), included if you book a private room. If you are leaving early like we did for Borobudur, they will get up at 5am to make you a fresh breakfast to take with you. Coffee and tea is available the whole day, as well as water refill. The shower has warm water. There are also kitchen utensils, plates/cups if you want to prepare your own food. Book early, it is a popular place. I wanted to extend and they were booked, had to find another place nearby for my last night in Jogja. But the reception girls told me I can still come by to hang out in the garden, which I did! Great place.
