Olive is such a kind host, she really makes you feel at home away from home. She reached out before we arrived to pre book a dinner location as it would have been hard to do that spontaneously given the busy times, she shared recommendations and provided additional information. She offered a great breakfast to our individual choice, all prepared with love. It was great to chat with her over tea and she would be reachable to help if needed via WhatsApp. Olive also prepared flasks for us and great rolls… we felt very spoiled. The room is nice, light, clean and is done with style and care. We really felt sorry that we had to leave Olive already. The location close enough to the harbor/city center, in short distance to the main roads is also great. The best place we have stayed so far during our trip - felt like meeting an old friend.

Set within 12 km of Museum Nan Eilean in Back, Wardicott offers accommodation with seating area. There is an in-house restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. We loved everything about the Wardicott! The host (Rod), the shared spaces (multiple sitting rooms), our room, the beds, the breakfast (Thank you, Gloria), the cleanliness... literally everything. The attention to detail amazed us. The host greeted us with a dram of whiskey and a piece of cake while he sat with us, explained the island and helped us plan our next day. We stayed in a room with two twin beds. The room was up a flight of steps, and was large and spacious. It even had its own little sitting area with two chairs. And the beds - oh, the beds were so so comfortable. They were thick and surely expensive mattresses covered in quality linen. Seriously, we would come back to the island so we could stay at the Wardicott. It was by far our favorite place on our entire 26 day trip. Also, the host offers a dinner menu for later in the day. We did not take advantage of this, but wish we would have. After experiencing the Wardicott and having the breakfast they offered, we imagine that the evening meal would have been delightful. Maybe next time....

Offering a garden and garden view, Manor House is situated in Stornoway, 1.5 km from Tràigh Thunga Beach and 27 km from Callanish Standing Stones. The hosts are lovely people and the breakfasts excellent. Our room was bigger than at most B&Bs, spotless and comfortable. Our window overlooked our hosts' garden and fenced yard. One night we treated ourselves to a picnic on the garden bench and gazed at the flowers and the sky. We stayed two nights on a small-group tour, and it was easy for the van to drop us off and pick us up. If there's time, hike up the hill above Manor House to the war memorial, its column set high so that every area of Stornoway sees a tribute to its own fallen soldiers of WWI and II.

Stornoway Bed and Breakfast is set in two properties in the centre of Stornoway, only 250 metres on foot from Stornoway Ferry Terminal and a 2-minute walk from the bus station. Wonderful staff and great breakfast options. Absolutely loved the eggs and salmon.
