Hostería Papagayo is a great place to enjoy nature. It has plenty of friendly animals (dogs, horses, lamas, chickens, rabbits, etc) and offers diverse activities (tours to Cotopaxi (around 30min from the park entrance), horse riding, night walks on the property) which we enjoyed a lot. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was nice having a restaurant on site, we particularly enjoyed the grilled trout. Our room was large, clean and the chimney gave it a very cosy touch while keeping us warm after an outdoor jacuzzi session! We highly recommend this place.

Hotel Rosim Cotopaxi is situated in Latacunga and offers a terrace. The property has city and inner courtyard views. Wonderful and helpful staff. Helped with local tours, around town and airport shuttles to Quito. Definitely recommend for the area, restaurants and cafe and businesses around, bus station also walking distance. Good wifi/shower/private room. Owners treated me like family and could see everyone felt welcomed there. Would return to!

Situated in Machachi, the recently renovated Ilinizas Wasi Hospedaje-Restaurante features accommodation 40 km from Metropolitano del Sur Park and 46 km from Army Polytechnic School. What a great host and family. The price was very affordable and they even drove us around to different sites.

Situated in Chasqui, El Chasqui Guest House offers accommodation with a patio. This property offers access to a terrace, darts, free private parking and free WiFi. Beautiful property, modern and clean, the best we've stayed at during our trip in Ecuador. The host is amazing. Breakfast was big and delicious.

Set in Machachi and only 38 km from Bolivar Theatre, Villa Victoria offers accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking. The owner Tania is very helpful and kind. She was flexible to prepare our breakfast quite early in the morning. Breakfast was great. There is a small garden where it is possible to park the car. The room is big, clean.

Featuring garden views, Ruta de los volcanes features accommodation with a garden, a terrace and a bar, around 49 km from Bolivar Theatre. With Ruta de los volcanos we really found a hidden gem! Darwin was an excellent host and is really talented. First and foremost he is an exceptional chef and prepared the best dinner for us that we had an our entire trip in Ecuador. We expected very simple food as the place is very remote but learned that he is known for his great cuisine in the entire area! And on top of that he was so helpful with the planning for our hiking. We went on a very tough hiking trip up to the peak of Rumiñahui and Darwin showed us the route on the map with a lot of patience. For Cotopaxi he organized a guide including transport and for both days we got an excellent lunch box provided. All came at a reasonable cost. There is free drinking water which you can fill your bottles with and all requests we had were fulfilled with care and joy. We almost felt like part of the family. Our room had an excellent view and the location is really ideal for hiking or any other activity around and on the volcanos. The fire in the evening was so cozy to relax and recover from a day in the mountains. We highly recommend Ruta de Los Volcanos and would certainly stay here again if we were back in the area! Featuring a garden overlooking the Pasochoa Volcano, Hacienda Santa Ana is set in a charming house combining modern and antique design. It is located 7 km from Cotopaxi National Park. We loved everything about our stay at Santa Ana. It is a beautiful property with so many unique features. We came with a two year old and a four month old, and though it doesn't seem like the most family friendly destination on the surface, it turned out fabulously; the animals were a huge hit, the massive front lawn allowed for hours of kicking the soccer ball around, the meals were delicious and a high chair was available. We also enjoyed two great activities organised by the staff: a farm visit where we saw the cheese making process and a hike to the nearby waterfall (both excellent for our two year old)! Speaking of the staff: they were thoughtful, helpful and very accommodating!
