Can't say enough good things about our stay! First, let me start with the best part - Einar. He was an absolutely amazing host and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. He welcomed us every day when we returned to the BnB, and was always thinking of ways to help us. One morning we had an early morning hike 2 hours away and he packed us lovely sandwiches for breakfast/lunch on the road. He was so generous on my husband's birthday and never hesitated to share fun ideas on some of the rest days we planned. Now on to the next best part, the property. Photos do not do justice to how lovely the house is. It's 1.5km off the main highway which makes it so quiet and peaceful. Yet, the views are incredible. You can sit on the porch or look out of your window to huge fields, mountains and the ocean. Sheep and horses are roaming around freely which adds so much personality. Last but not least, the shared bathroom was always spotless and very rarely did we have to wait to use it. Lastly, the location. The property is ~15 mins from Vik which has lots of cute restaurants and bars. We drove there every night and it was super convenient. It was actually nice to drive a little outside of town to enjoy the amazing sights of Iceland. The black sand beach and other hot spots are also very close. Overall, we spent 4 nights here and it didn't feel like enough. It would be a real travesty to only do a night here. It got better every day as you started relaxing into the house and truly appreciating Einar's hospitality. This was one of our favorite stays ever, and can't wait to be back!

The best accommodation we stayed on our 14 day trip. The staff was very kind and responsive, cleanliness was at an extremely high level, wonderful rooms and bathrooms. The kitchen had a wide variety of dishes and appliances and the dining room was large and pleasant. The location is excellent. I highly recommend this place.

This tastefully appointed, family-run guest house, 13 km from Vík, is surrounded by the Mýrdalsjökull Glacier and Atlantic Ocean. It features free Wi-Fi, a fully equipped guest kitchen and living room.

A flat-screen satellite TV is provided in all rooms at Grand Guesthouse Gardakot, along with wooden floors and fresh décor. Some have a private bathroom, while others have access to shared facilities.

The place is from a fairy tale. Cute and cozy rooms, elegantly furnished. Common space with a fully equipped kitchen offers tea, coffee, sugar, honey, fruit and sweets - anything one may need after a long trip. Breakfast is included and we should have spent more time to try all the goodness: freshly baked buns, rye bread, crackers, icelandic cheeses, salmon from the river, farm eggs, homemade jams and chutney. The hostess is the nicest person ever. The guesthouse is off the main road so it is nice and quiet. An extra value is puffin lookout from the dyrholaey light house point. I recommend with all my heart, I would be happy to come back.

It was a very clean and comfortable stay, a well equipped kitchen available for use. There is a shared bathroom with 4 other rooms, however the bathroom was the cleanest we saw during our trip to Iceland. Location is decent, not in the city center, close to the famous Black Beach. Due to its positioning we saw the northern lights there without driving further !

Located in the middle of nowhere - still near Vik i Myrdal - the Volcano Hotel is lovely place to be! The hotel itself is special and charming, the environment is very quaint. The fact that you can enjoy the latter at any place of the hotel - especially during breakfast - is a big plus! Also the staff was really friendly and welcoming. In a nutshell: One of the best (and cheapest | out of eight) accommondations we had during our trip in Iceland.

Its a guesthouse with shared bathroom and kitchen - we paid extra to have private bathroom. When we arrived, there was no other guests so we could fully enjoy the space. Kitchen is large, with a table for 4-6 people , had all amenities like pods, sugar, pasta etc. Its almost right next to the main road, but was really quiet during the night. Not sure whether the experience would change if we had to share kitchen area with others, so bear that in mind. Private bathroom was big and really nice.
