The location was very close to the city center. It was easy to park, although you have to repurchase a parking ticket every day before 09:00. Not a problem for early birds offcourse. Parkings costs were fair, I believe € 2,00 per day. There were free spaces all the time.

The hotel has private parking, the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and check in was very smooth. We had three in our room; parents and one teenager. We were very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and served at your table by very professional staff. The room was amazing with a spectacular view of the perfectly groomed garden and Kilkenny Castle. The location made it easy to see all of the main sites within the townsite and is close to many great pubs and restaurants. A river walk is minutes away and there are plenty of quality shops. Highly recommend fish and chips at Matt the Millar's, just down the hill.

The welcome was very warm and kind. She showed us a room where we could have a drink whenever we wanted and with nice Easter eggs. The room was very spacious and very clean, not to mention the excellent bedding where once under the comforter you didn't want to move. Great place to stay, very comfortable. The hosts (and their dog) were very friendly and welcoming. Elizabeth was a delight and so helpful telling us all good places to visit in town plus directions. We were treated to a full Irish breakfast in the morning with homemade bread which was delicious!

We had a fantastic stay at Carraig Rua. We were able to check in a little early, which meant we had more time to walk around Kilkenny, including to the Smithwick's Experience. It was an easy walk into town. Oonagh and her husband were lovely hosts, and the breakfast was amazing. We were able to sit outside on the patio and enjoy the backyard.
