Each of the spacious rooms have recently been refurbished to a high standard and offer en suite bathrooms, TV/DVD, tea and coffee facilities and comfortable beds made with the best Egyptian cotton linen.

What a nice place, it's very old so it's a charming place, the room was at the back and ok, a lot of choices for breakfast. And prepared for you on the spot. Great food in the evening and very nice people that welcome you. So definitely one to go back.

Surrounded by views of the scenic Mendip Hills, The Highwayman Inn is situated in picturesque Shepton Mallet. It offers 14 refurbished en suite rooms, and free public on-site parking.

Shepton Mallet is the ideal location from which guests can explore the Somerset countryside. There is a quaint and lively market held every Friday morning and Bristol and Bath can both be reached in 40 minutes’ drive. Glastonbury is a 15-minute drive away.

Our room was excellent with a view to the hills and although overlooking a main road was very quiet due to the functional double glazing. The hotel is full of character with a comfortable bar area, friendly, efficient staff and a great English breakfast. On the night we were staying there was unfortunately no food available that evening but the landlord kindly suggested that the pub nearby might do food or we could get some delivered in. Large car park. We would definitely stay at the Highwayman again.

Set in a 15th century building in Croscombe, between Shepton Mallet and Wells, B&B The Cross at Croscombe offers bed and breakfast accommodation and a beautiful courtyard garden. Free private parking is possible on site, and free WiFi is available in public areas.

Former pub and leper hospice dating back nearly 600 years, the Cross has been sympathetically restored (some 10 years ago) to the highest standard. Owner Terri is a delightful and amiable host, who prepares a very comprehensive, copious and top quality breakfast. Our room was very large, immaculately clean and had a large bathroom with separate shower. The excellent village pub, two minutes walk away, has good quality food. 10 out of 10.
