Recently renovated, the room was spacious and one of the nicest accommodations we stayed at in our 3 week tour of England & Scotland. However the price was very affordable, in line with places that were much less spacious and with fewer amenities and lesser quality. The Pickled Pheasant was conveniently located just outside the Peak District, a short drive to the Dales. Easily accessed off a main thoroughfare, but very quiet and peaceful. The room featured a true king size bed, large walk-in shower, window seating, desk seating, an armoire, and (rare for much of the country) washcloths in addition to hand and bath towels. We opened the large windows in the morning and enjoyed the beautiful sound of (nearby but not loud) church bells There is a pub and breakfast dining area on the main level. WE only stayed one night so were not able to take advantage of the walking guide that was provided with specially designed hikes beginning at the lodging. We would definitely choose to stay at the PIckled Pheasant again!

The staff were excellent from arriving to leaving. The room was well appointed, ample parking, great food and in a quiet out of the way location. There is no lift however staff assisted with carrying the suitcases upstairs.

Magnifico hotel situato in una stretta valle tra due collinette: già dall'esterno si nota una enorme cura dei particolari. Internamente è bellissimo, sia nella parte relativa al pub/ristorante, si relativamente alle camere, che sono accoglienti, pulite e silenziose. Il personale è gentilissimo, a tal punto che, essendo io rientrato tardi e avendo trovato la cucina chiusa, non hanno esitato a suggerirmi un locale alternativo dove poter cenare.
