We truly enjoyed staying at La Grand Ourse. It is difficult to put into words the pleasure we felt in being able to stay with Phillippe and Marie-Noelle in their beautiful home. Their hospitality, and Marie's culinary skills at breakfast and dinner, were outstanding. Our room on the first floor was spacious and beautifully decorated. The house is fitted with screens on the windows to prevent entry of unwelcome insects - a welcome and unexpected bonus!

Beautiful location, and clean and comfortable chalet with good beds and showers. Breakfast had a good choice but for me I prefer local and organic produce.

Very charming couple. The village was lovely. It was easy to find. The property was beautiful the garden a real delight. I wish I had more time to spend there. The breakfast was very good and generous.

Lovely, peaceful setting by the river that we could hear at night. Tastefully decorated with a mix of antiques and modern furniture. The staff was very nice, and provided a great list of restaurants in the area, since they only provided breakfast.

This house is what you dream the French countryside would be like! Perfection! If you’re walking the Camino de Santiago, driving through southern France, or even looking for a short trip from San Sebastián, absolutely come here. The bed is so comfortable and the French linen down comforter is like sleeping in a cloud. The room is wonderfully quiet and, with the shutters closed, perfectly dark. The decor of the house should be featured in Travel & Leisure magazine for its beautiful design and modern renovations while still maintaining the original charm (Jean Pierre, one of the hosts, did the renovations himself!). Do not miss the dinner and breakfast, homemade by the host, Lara! Each plate is expertly arranged, topped with little peppers or edible flowers, and beyond delicious. We have a high bar coming from New York and the dinner especially blew us away. Lamb with pumpkin and beans, little toasts of cheese, zucchini bread and beet purée with a crunchy little green salad and banana walnut bread for dessert. We will remember this place for a long time and we wish we had been able to stay longer to explore the mountain hikes and have another beautiful dinner with our hosts! If you have a chance to stay, it’s the best euros we’ve spent in our 3 week road trip across Spain and France, excellent value.

In a beautiful location near the mountains and historic churches, the facility itself is also beautiful, a large traditional farm house and outbuildings recently remodeled into a stunning modern interior within a carefully restored exterior. Retired couple are welcoming hosts offering a fine and ample breakfast cooked to order.
