If you are into history, as I am, you will Love this place. Over 200 years old, full of details, old wooden chests and furniture, clocks, paintings..Like a trip to history. Great host, great coffee, really nice place.

Jedinym neodstatkem ubytovani jsou spolecne koupelny ale nijak to neprekazelo, na pokoji je umyvadlo. Misto, samotne pokoje a personal a sluzby, to vse tomu dodalo takovou atmosferu, ze spolecna toaleta nebo koupelna se vubec neresi. Pomer cena a vykon naprosto uzasne. Pekarna a supermarket naproti, obchudek s mistnim syrem a masem taky. Moc dekujeme za skvely pristup i pobyt

The mountain views are spectacular and very quiet relaxing place to enjoy the Swiss country side. Delicious food and great breakfast. Host was very nice and accommodating, she made early breakfast for us so we can make it to the airport on time. We will definitely be back again. Ps. The local tour guide (one of her cat) walked on the trail with us. 😊

We stayed 2 nights beginning of June. If you like traditional places, you should visit Waldgasthaus Lehmen. You would be surrounded by natural forest with a view on Appenzell Alps. One of the most common sound during the day is various bells on cow necks. We were lucky to see how Appenzell farmers bring their cows to the mountains. The farmers have very beautiful cloths! On Saturday we saw a group of farmers, who came in their traditional dresses to Lehmen restaurant and had a few hours of singing and enjoying food. The restaurant is very good, if you like Swiss food. You must be hiking in that region, otherwise food might be too heavy. I had pork steak, pork schnitzel and beef steak with noodles and mushrooms. All dishes were very tasty. You have to try local beer! And Lehmen whisky! Highly recommended! Very nice! Service is impeccable, fast and attentive. All personnel is very friendly. Breakfast is wonderful! I would prefer, if it started at 7 instead of 8… Our room 17 was great, soft pillows, comfy beds, bath, simple but cozy design. The hotel has a playground for kids. Parking is huge.

Very kind owners, who take care of each detail with care. Very nice and clean place, comfortable room, we had a very good sleep. Breakfast was great, not only in quantity (yes, there were a lot of options), but also in quality, because Lucas took care of each detail. We loved our stay, and will surely stay there again , if we ever come back to Appenzell.
