We stayed for two nights, once after arriving on the bus from Managua and then again when returning on the boat from El Castillo. It is in the perfect location for the bus terminal and boat port (2 minute walk). The rooms are basic but clean. Great value for money.

A great place to stay! A lovely old house, clean, comfortable and on a quiet street close to the centre for the bus and boats. The owners are extremely kind people, I needed to change my dates twice due to a chane of plans and then unforseen circumstances and they were very generous and understanding. I booked and stayed here both times I was in San Carlos. Overall, fantastic value and would absolutely recommend a stay here!

The food was delicious. They put a lot of effort to source their food from their own gardens and have a small farm to provide this food for guests. The beds are comfortable and clean. There is a troupe of spider monkeys that visited every day because of all the fruit trees they have planted on the grounds and there is a lot of birdlife everywhere. Most of all we enjoyed our boat tour organised by the hotel. This took us down the caño negro river where we saw many caiman, Jabiru storks, turtles, and even a very rare striated heron.The hotel staff and owners are friendly and welcoming. We had an incredible stay at this wonderful family hotel. The surroundings are beautiful and very close to the large wetlands. There was a laguna only a few meters down form our room where we also spotted many species of bird. By taking a boat up the river you can see even more varieties of birds, caimans, and turtles. Cano Negro is one of our favorite places to visit in all of Central America due to its beautiful nature and diversity of birds. We will definitely come back in the future! Noteworthy, the family also offer dinner which was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!
