There was live entertainment in the spacious lobby with views of the swimming pool. Room service also offered a convenient menu that was reasonably priced for this type of hotel. The gym and sauna were well-maintained and clean. Our room was comfortable and offered a fantastic view of the choppy Gulf of Tonkin. Breakfast was filling. There was plenty to eat including fresh fruit, noodles, pastries, and typical Chinese breakfast items. Some guests might be disappointed that Western options are scarce. Seating was also especially scarce during our time there. Other plusses include Shangri-La's location along the water. It is an easy walk to the old town port streets and the more modern beach areas.

I also ordered from the room service menu and the food was tasty and delivered promptly. The design of the hotel was elegant and made for a pleasant experience.
