Konpira Onsen, Kotohira

Amenities include an LCD TV, a DVD player and a fridge. Guests can choose to stay in Japanese-style houses, where Ogai Mori wrote his famous novel. We were extremely fortunate to stay in the Choseiden cottage. The very generous layout and views over the garden towards the faraway mountains, the scrolls, the paintings, the wooden furniture of this once tea house, not too forget the private bath (“Onsen”) with its glass panel onto the forest were exquisite. The staff were most helpful and kind. Very warm thoughts go to Reina who brought us our meals and guided us through the intricacies of the local cuisine, while answering with a joyful warmth our relentless barrage of questions about Japanese culture and herself. A stay which will linger!

A 5-minute walk from JR Kotohira Train Station, Kotosankaku Hiten provides Japanese rooms with traditional futon beds and Konpira Mountain views. Hot-spring baths, traditional meals and massage services are featured. We enjoyed our one-night stay a lot! Free parking, very close and walking distance to the Kotohiragu area. The room itself was very spacious for 2 people. The onsen was also very nice, there were multiple hot tubs (including jet/jacuzzi ones) indoors and outdoors, and they switch the onsen between male and female overnight. There's also restaurants within the hotel itself. The deco of the hotel along the main walkway and the reception was quite traditional and was nice to appreciate.

Great value for money, located right by the port, with great access to the rest of the island. The host was friendly, accommodating, and went out of their way to help, despite the langugage barrier (which with a little google translate, really isn't so much a barrier nowadays anyway). Also, I received a free room upgrade! Who can complain!

Great location! So close to the ferry terminal which made it a great choice as we were coming back from Naoshima on the last high-speed boat. The whole guesthouse had lots of art-related and Takamatsu-related flyers which was fun. Easy check-in and out and the man managing the front desk was very friendly (bonus or warning depending on you: two cats in the check-in room!). The yukatas were very comfy and the edging of the tatami mats were Yayoi Kusama-pumpkin themed which was a fun touch, as was the keychain on our key!
We made our own breakfast in the well-equipped kitchen which was great. Loved the tatami rooms which reminded us of the ryokans we stayed at in Japan Beautifully decorated with kitschy collectibles which were familiar. Comfortable temperature in the rooms. And comfy beds.
The kimonos in the room, the traditional breakfast and the onsen were amazing.
Beautiful Ryokan, great and very attentive staff, excellent service, outstanding food - a very well deserved 10/10 and we hope to come back again soon! Location of the Ryokan is great to explore the whole island by foot or bycicle. The sushi dinner was the best sushi we had during one month in Japan. The room with the traditional onsen bath is beautifully designed and the attention to details was much appreciated - pure relaxation! Make sure to plan some time to enjoy the Ryokan itself next to exploring the art on the island
The proprietor is lovely and helpful. She gave us a map of places around the ryokan as well as large size loaner umbrellas (larger than our conbini type) which was great as we arrived on a very rainy day. The rooms are as expected for Japanese style in an older building. The onsen is simple but clean and that's all that really matters.
dinner and breakfast was incredible staff were great and knowledgable fantastic ryokan experience (not a hotel!) private onsen was gorgeous extremely stylish and luxurious
LOVELYFRIENDLY COUPLE RUNNING THE RYOKAN. LOVELY TRADITIONAL BUILDING WITH ONSEN, WHICH WAS VERY PLEASANT.
The place was very good. Staff at counter, parking area and room service staff were friendly, helpful and professional. The room was excellent - big, clean and the futons were comfortable. The onsen was superb. Good restaurant within the premises. In addition varied eating places were within walking distance. The location was closed to a couple of popular places of interest. Recommended for stay in Kagawa area.
Comfortable stay. I wasn't quite sure what to expect but the room had an ensuite bathroom. It's a tatami floor with a mattress and futon layered on top so very comfortable. Convenient for the Setouchi Triennele, close to everything to see in Honmura. Host is very kind and friendly.
Wonderful blend of east meets west. My room was huge and carpeted, some others were tatami. I believe must have beds rather than futons. The hot spring baths were wonderful. Their are both indoor and outdoor. I paid 3000yen for a private outdoor bath which was good. I didn’t dine in the restaurant for dinner. But breakfast was wonderful. The lounge area turns into a bar at night which was very popular and not expensive.
