This was a lovely place to stay. Beautiful property, and excellent facilities. Premises are kept very clean and presentable, and the hosts are most accommodating! Conveniently positioned 5 minutes drive from the closest Lidl supermarket - which should cater for most of your needs. There is also a well equipped local supermarket 2 minutes walk down the road, which we frequented several times. A number of attractions can be reached by car from this relatively central location. Key fob for the front gate supplied, and designated parking on site for each villa. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here. Area is nice, people are lovely, we felt safe, relaxed, and well looked after. We will be more than happy to stay at Atsipopoulo Villas again next time we visit the island. Highly recommended.

There wasn't anything not to like, just wish we had booked a longer stay.

The villa was beautifully decorated with everything you could need. We loved the pool area which was great for our family of 7. George & his family were always on hand if you needed anything & giving advice on the area.

I honestly can't say that we disliked anything, but if you want to get the most out of staying in Atsipopoulo you'll need a car or be happy to get a cab into Rethymno or to the beach. A cab into town costed 10 euros. Of course, there are always the options to stay in the village or by the pool or to let George organise some day trips for you (as we were out of season, many of the day trip providers hadn't yet started up yet, which wasn't a problem for us).

A friend and I stayed at Villa Elia for a week in April 2022. We were welcomed by the host, George, who was fantastically helpful throughout (special callout for the cheese pie and cheesecake his mother cooked for us during the week). George made sure we had everything we needed from day 1, and the facilities at the villa made our stay very comfortable. (The villa has been renovated for the 2022 season, and we didn't find that it was lacking anything.) Elia is located away from the main road, so it was quiet, and breakfast by the pool was always a relaxing experience. Atsipopoulo is a small village about a 10-minute drive from Rethymno. There are some fantastic bakers, restaurants and supermarkets in the village, and the locals are all very friendly (we particularly appreciated one restaurant owner offering us some off-menu 'mama's food' so that we could taste some of the local cuisine). Rethymno itself is as pretty as any existing review says it is, and it's worthwhile just pottering around with no set agenda. We were slightly out of season (which suited us well), so the weather wasn't always hot enough for the beach, but Villa Elia is so well located that we were able to drive around and see a lot of Crete. Chania is well worth a visit, as is the nearby Arkadi Monastery - but there are plenty other suggestions for day trips in a booklet in the villa. If you're into the outdoors, a drive into the centre of the island will take you into some surprisingly lush locations, where you can stop off at a taverna and have more of that home-cooked food. Again, the reception is always warm.

A lovely villa very near to Rethymno, in a lovely little town. Fantastic hosts!

The host was fantastic, and met us as we arrived with food and drink. The villa was large, spacious - more than enough for the seven of us. The pool was clean and lovely (if a little cold!), and even when the weather didn't play ball we were able to switch over the AC to heating mode and keep nice and toasty.

There are very little else I can say only that this was THE BEST HOLIDAY we were ever on! The luxury of Villa Elia, paired with George and his family’s hospitality, the weather, the view and the peace- it doesn’t get better! The villa is excellent, top quality accommodation and the location is just perfect. 10 mins away from the bustling sea side of Reythmno, it is easily accessed and plenty of activities or plenty of rest- perfect for all types of holidays. The house is spotless, all top quality furnishings and the pool is amazing, getting sun all day! We enjoyed every minute, George and his family are so nice and helpful. We got to know the locals in the cafe and the bakery and everyone we met was as nice as the next. Don’t hesitate to book these Villas, we are already planning another trip back. Truly paradise!

There was nothing we didn’t like, but suggest that more and better quality kitchen utensils would be worthwhile given the quality of the property.

George and his Mother were outstanding hosts, helpful and attentive at all times. The pastry on arrival, the desert during our week and the lovely gift as we left, all made by George’s mother, were delightful.

We stayed 6 nights at Villa Myrtia and really enjoyed these days. George and his mother gave ous a very warm welcome and even prepared some food and a bottle of wine. George is a great host and very helpful in finding a rental car, sailing trip or just bringing an air pump for our air matress😅 The house was very clean and they did clean it again during our stay and brought some more food (dessert which his mother did for us). All in all we enjoyed the villa and pool so much that we barley left it 😅 Thanks George for a great time!

We Stayed at Elia & Rogdia

We wanted to stay at Rogdia the whole time but it was already booked. I did like that property better than Elia, for the decor etc.. The only setback is that Rogdia is closer to the street and so a little louder at night.

George and his mother were both sweethearts. George was an excellent communicator and host. His mother cooked us a pastry, dessert and then a proper breakfast. It was fantastic! We loved the pool and beds. We even fell in love with the gray kitty - sorry but we couldn’t help ourselves. It all just felt like home. He also provides a guidebook that’s extremely helpful. We wish we could have stayed longer and gotten to know their family better and visited Crete longer.
