Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Maybe there is no paradise but Metochi is close to it! In the middle of the superb and unique island, this place is amazing. View on the sea from everywhere and especially from the taverna which is beautiful. And Maria is the angel of the place: always smiling and you feel like an old friend. And of course, the meals prepared by her mother are a must. I will be back soon!!

United KingdomThe mattress was slightly tougher than I liked ...but obviously this is matter of preference
Maria and her mum are very helpful, kind and friendly. The terrace overlooking the sea, shaded by a couple of trees, is a nice place to have your coffee while watching the sunrise. The Metochi is literally on the bus stop but, because the hotel is located in the centre of the island, it is possible to walk to every beach in about 1 or 2h depending on the beach. The taverna serves good authentic Greek food at reasonable prices.

United StatesI think that the beds and some of the plumbing system could use some updates.
The location is beautiful, on a hill, among high fragrant trees, and rooms have nice private outdoor seating areas. The tavern on site was also great, I enjoyed sitting and eating there. But the best feature of Metochi, in my opinion, are its hosts, Maria and the rest of the family are super welcoming, friendly, and generally helpful with figuring out the logistics of getting around the island by foot, bus, or otherwise. Thank you so much for making my Gavdos visit as fabulous as it was.

United KingdomNothing! Mmm perhaps get that sticking room door lock replaced! 😂😂
The beauty of Gavdos is its wilderness & beaches and is not commercialised. That’s exactly what we wanted! The stay at Metochi was enjoyable and the only regret is that we didn’t stay long enough! Maria was a fantastic hostess that made the stay a little extra special! She enjoyed learning some British Sign Language albeit not Greek and had some laughs too! She & others made the Metochi what it is: warm, friendly and very welcoming place to stay. You get good facilities offered in the room! Good & tasty food, probably one of the best on the island. The main course changes everyday so you get to try out different meals! Beef was fantastic! Throughly recommend to at least stay & eat there while on the island!

SpainThe staff treat us excellently, the picked us up in Gavdos port and transfer is to the hotel which is really close. We rented a scooter there which make us stay in Gavdos unbelievable. Another thing to highlight is the food, EVERYTHING was delicious. Maybe the best place to stay in the island.

AustriaIf you want to find something trivial: Of course, some rooms could use some renovation, especially the mattresses (in our room) could be renewed. But it's actually beside the point because the entire stay was just perfect.
Anyone who loves original Greece will be very happy here, unfortunately there are not many such wonderful places left. Don't expect luxury, this is Gavdos, a gorgeous island at the southernmost point of Europe. Maria and her incredibly hospitable family take care of their guests from arrival to departure in a way that cannot be taken for granted. The many unforgettable hours in the enchanting and cozy tavern were the best days for us that we have been able to experience on vacation in Greece in the last twenty years. The entire property is made with a lot of love and attention and is a place of rest and relaxation. Eftichia and Stefanos spoil their guests with delicious Cretan cuisine and their daughter Maria, who is always smiling and seems to speak every language in the world, takes care of the well-being of the guests in the tavern from morning to night. There is nothing more to describe this oasis of family hospitality and the island's relaxed atmosphere, it simply has to be experienced. Apart from that, Gavdos is a wonderful island for hiking and has a variety of beautiful beaches with crystal clear sea.

United KingdomIf you are travelling out of the main season be prepared for no bus running, the only mode of transport, apart from your legs. However we believe the hiring of scooters was about to happen.
Stayed here at the beginning of May. The property is the most central to explore the island. The family were most helpful and catered for our every needs in exploring the island. The property is linked to several trails linking the other villages. At the next village 45 minutes walk you will find the island bakers (Stella's not to be missed). Unfortunately as it was the beginning of the season Maria's mother was away so we missed out on the ice cream, however upon return we will sample it. We met a couple who brought their pedal cycles from Crete, had we had access to pedal cycles it would have made the getting around the island simple.

GreeceNot enough time off to stay longer ;-)
The place is Amazing! Great location as it's close to each side of the island and easily accessible also by feet. Room is clean, spacious and has all amenities you need to prepare small meals if needed., Unexpected cleaning in a middle of a short stay! :-) The area with rooms and family taverna is fenced out so it is a very safe place for your animal companions or children (has children play area too). The most welcoming and happy owners, smiley and helpful. Cosy place, quiet with a sea view, beach close by, various walks around. The service and selection of food and drink are first class, together with great company of the owners. Highly Reccomended, I will go back soon :-D Thank you Maria and greetings to Mum, Dad, Lucy and Johnny! Filakia Polla 🥰😘😘 Gala, Chris and Grace 🐶🐶

Comfortable stay, good value for money. You have to be aware that you have to do a lot of hiking/walking/trekking in the area or come with the car. There is 500 m of bumpy dirt road before you get to Metochi. Very nice hosts
