Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomToo many small screaming kids for my liking ( i guess they book this hotel for the all inclusive), I was in a room between 2 families with small children and since my room was an adjoining one ie had only door between my room and the next , was annoying listening to kids screaming and parents screaming at the kids. I would have thought that the hotel would have considered it a bit more and not put a single middle aged man between 2 families with small kids. Also the aircon in my room either needed servicing or was totally inadequate for the room size. Despite being a modern aircon unit , when turned on full speed at the lowest temp was unable to cool the room properly and the outside temp was not that warm in mid may ie 27c max while I was there. I would not like to be there when the temps hit mid 30s in August. Food was ok , good variety for families with kids to feed , but not particularly memorable. I ate out in the evenings at local restaurants. Snacks , sandwiches, cakes and ice cream , tea coffee and bar with alcohol and soft drinks available throughout the day outside the meal times , so food and drink always if you have fussy eating kids. Despite booking all inclusive ( only because it was a good discounted deal) , on arrival you learn that there are 2 levels of all inclusive and you are booked on the 'basic' one which means that the drinks are all locally made unbranded cretan beer and wine and spirits , vodka , whiskey etc . It costs another 10 euros a day to upgrade to the premium all inclusive and have drinks with names that you recognise. To be fair the cretan beer was perfectly drinkable , not sure about the rose wine , I tasted it and it was a bit rough, the white and red were ok. The food at meal times was perfectly edible , a variety of standard breakfast items eg cereals , toast , eggs bacon etc also a good range of traditional Greek breakfast items , nothing wrong with it , just nothing special.
Great location right on the beach , near to beachside restaurants 50 - 100 metres to the right and right in the small town centre for more restaurants, cafes and supermarket. Kalyves is a very relaxed place , retaining a traditional feeling not touristy in the slightest. Mixture of nationalities , French, German, Polish, British, Israelis and more. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Two nice swimming pools outdoor and one indoor pool in the spa. Water was a bit chilly but was mid may so not surprising.

DenmarkRoom phone didn't work, shower water was always cold, room was cold, TV remote didn't work. The reception wasn't helpful at all about any of these problems and were rude.
Food and location are great. Staff (waiters, bartenders, and animators) were lovely. Overall, we had a good time at the hotel.

United KingdomI would say bedroom furniture needs an upgrade , dark brown and dated. The bath towels also ready for upgrade.
Location perfect in the centre of the village and right on the beach. Staff were helpful and friendly Great selection of food for breakfast as was the lunch and dinner. We like to eat out in local tavernas but the hotel did its best with variety. Sea view room was great for view and the bed was very comfortable. I didn’t use air con as early in the season but also a ceiling fan. They have entertainment on an evening and our room was just above but luckily this finishes at 10.00pm

United KingdomThe food was a major drawback for this hotel. Looks like a lot of food is ordered somewhere from supplier rather then cooked on premises. Most foods were of low quality. Low quality cheese, butter. Lots of boiled stuff that does not require cooking. Hotel could do better quality and more variety. The same breakfast every day.
Room was fine. Sandy beech with some stones was nice for children to play. Ducks in the river nearby. Giorgos, who works in restaurant, was nice to children and made them feel welcomed during meal times.

United KingdomBreakfast was not hot and the selection was wide but not for everyone's taste. A little high on calories and fat, but fruit and cereal was also available. Chips seemed an odd option though
Location is great but we only stayed one night so did not use any facilities or activities. We were upgraded to a larger sea view room with balcony for no charge which was a bonus! The bar shut very promptly at 11.00 which cut off most people who had arrived from uk and were still in a q to check in, and not too pleased about it.

GermanySome days the food was a bit cold or meats dried out. The meats cooked in vegetables and sauce were delicious though and the selection of salads was good too.
The view from the hotel was lovely, the beach was very nice too. The room was spacious , upto date and clean.

DenmarkExtremely friendly and welcoming staff at the reception, especially Peneloppe. They were always there to accomodate our needs. The buffet was great, with a lot of traditional Greek/Cretan food. Beach is very close and very nice. There is enough sun beds and umbrellas.

Germany- The food was low quality for the amount of money that we paid and for the location. Creta is famous for the quality of food. Some days you could find some nice things but in general below normal quality. - Poor cleaning even though had every day cleaning - The hotel needs to be more user-friendly for small children. They need to put more internal playgrounds and more child entertainments and in general, parents, that go to all-inclusive hotels would like to feel few hours per day more relaxed and safety that someone else is taking care their children.
The staff was really friendly, especially at the reception and at the pool bar. -Amazing view from the room

MaltaI was looking forward to our stay but given that we also stayed at the kiani resort I expected that there would be more variety in terms of food and entertainment.
The views, the drinks and most importantly the staff! The staff really work long hours from morning till night, I really hope that this does not go unnoticed because they really run the resort on a high level. The village nearby is also a charm to get that Cretan life.

MoroccoWe had an accident in the room, the shower’s glass door fell off and broke with my wife inside. She had multiple cuts all over her body. When I called the reception they barely sent a cleaner to remove the glass and fix the door but I had to ask for a doctor to help clean my wife’s wounds. After that no one from the hotel cared, I reported that to the reception asking to speak to the manager but he never manifests himself. We are discussing with out lawyer now…
The food, the location.
