The only issue we had was with the creeky stairs leading downstairs to the bathroom/toilet, while the bedroom and a second living area were upstairs.

The property itself, while an older building, had been renovated & furnished beautifully. It was very well located and, most importantly, the hosts (Iro & Themos) were absolutely amazing. We were contacted before our visit with support & suggestions. Once we arrived, we met the fabulously engaging Iro who provided us with the highest quality information and suggestions to make our stay one of the most memorable ever. To add to all that, Iro provided more delicious traditional Cretan food that we knew what to do with! Cretan hospitality is renowned but this was on another level! Thank you thank you thank you!

Loved everything about it!

From the moment we booked Izmir House with Themos and Iro we had a warm feeling that everything was going to be special and it was. Mr Fotis met us at the airport and drove us to Izmir House where we were met by Iro who gave us a very warm welcome and a wonderful introduction to local food and produce available to us. Iro also took the time to tell us about the local area and further afield with further info on reviews of local restaurants and eateries/pubs in the local vicinity. Very useful. In addition, Izmir House has everything you need for your holiday. The house is well equipped with everything you need. Iro and Themos are the most considerate and thoughtful hosts we have ever encountered. Please be assured that if you book this, you will not be disappointed! We will be back! Loved it!

Location is centered but quiet, owner is detailed and show great hospitality. This is not exaggerating, one of my favorite stay throughout years of solo traveling. The owners are very communicative and even prepared pizza, snacks, huge fruit basket and pies that was enough for a whole week. As a designer myself, I appreciated the design details in Izmir House that the owners put into, from the utensils to the decorations, there were just so much to love. I would definitely book this place again when I visit Chania next time. It's walking distance to the best diving center in town, which is another plus for divers.

Great location and the experience was of staying in a Greek home - not like an apartment The host Iro is simply amazing - never have we experienced hospitality like the hospitality we enjoyed on arrival and throughout our stay at Izmir The kitchen and amenities are serviced with everything you could possibly need - they have not missed a thing !

Iro and Themos went above and beyond to create a fantastic space for my friend and I. Iro welcomed us to the accomodation and baked biscuits, spanakota and a traditional orange cake for us before we arrived. She was so lovely and helpful via text on whatsapp whenever we needed anything.

Having to leave.

AMAZING! Themos and Iro were extremely attentive hosts from the moment we booked until we came home. We were greeted at the property by the most amazing food and drinks. Iro spent over an hour with us recommending places to eat, drink and visit, all of which were fantastic. The property is nicely decorated and very cozy, it's like home from home, well equipped, comfy bed, plenty of storage, great aircon, lovely shower, the list is endless. It is situated near the harbour which has a great vibe at night and fantastic bars and restaurants. This has been one of the most relaxing holidays we've had in years. THANK YOU for making it so special.

Amazing welcome by knowledgeable host. Generous complimentary drinks and snacks laid out on arrival. Modern air conditioning units throughout the property. Comfortable bed with ample clothes storage space in bedroom. Well equipped kitchen - fantastic range of teas, coffee pods (incl. decaf) and milk for use.

The hosts were extremely warm and hospitable. The house was like a home from home with everything you could ever need and extremely clean with comfy beds. The location was amazing near the inner harbour with the better restaurants. It was quite quiet at night.

- Netflix wasn't logged in (we logged into our own instead of chasing with host - this was probably easily fixable though.) - I wish I'd been warned about the food platter - much of it wasn't vegan so I had to choose between wasting it or 'breaking' vegan. It was very delicious but I would have opted out if given the choice. These are obviously very picky details and wouldn't put me off staying again. I would love to go back.

The apartment was beautiful, very well equipped and comfortable. The host was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to help us throughout our stay. There was even a table full of food left out for our arrival (fruit, spinach filo pie, marble cake, orange and polenta filo tart, syrupy fried pastry sweets, bread, cheese, water, wine plus lots of tea and coffee!)

Having to leave at the end of our trip!

Pelagia met us at the house despite our plane being delayed meaning we didn't get in until midnight. There was a wonderful selection of food waiting for us as well. She had a huge wealth of knowledge on what to do and where to eat and helped us book everything. I've never had a more attentive host/ess and cannot give enough thanks for making this such a wonderful stay. The location is also exceptional: it is essentially right in the heart of where you want to be, just a stones throw from all the restaurants, but down a quiet road so we managed to get a good nights rest. I have already recommended to friends and family and would absolutely stay here again.

The shower is a bit awkward but it works fine overall

The host, Pelagia, was absolutely exceptional. She gave us details on all the places we should visit in the surrounding area and why. Without this, we wouldn’t have made as much of the holiday as what we did. Because of her we had an amazing holiday visiting lots of different places. The house itself was very clean and comfortable with beautiful home made welcome treats. Great location too.

It is absolutely clear that the hosts are extremely giving and gracious people, because the house is equipped with anything you may possibly need (and even things you didn't know you needed), including a lovely welcome "buffet". Pelagia met us and gave us amazing tips for places to visit and things to eat, including in non-touristic locations, and was amazingly helpful with every little question and request (and even things we didn't know we wanted), going above and beyond. The location is super central and close to everything, but also in a quiet alley away from the hustle and bustle of the city. **Warning to future guests: the overly well thought out details of the place are likely going to ruin all future properties at which you may stay. ;)

The most amazing hosts I've ever met. They waited for us with pies, cake, eggs (it was before Easter), fruits, juices, water and afterwards came over with wine and cheese. They helped us with suggestions for restaurants, boat reservations and were very communicative. The location was perfect for us because it was in a quiet and central area. The house was really cozy and beautiful.

I won’t have enough words to describe how nice our experience has been with Iro and Themos. They’ve been extremely attentive from pre arrival - like others have mentioned, prepared a feast for us when we came, gave us excellent recommendations and made sure the house had everything that one would possibly need. Not only that but everything that they have in the house is of high quality, not cheap material. Iro was checking in every day and honestly if she has given recommendations, take them because she knows where the good stuff is! We stayed for 4 nights for our honeymoon and absolutely loved every bit of our stay - if you’re in Chania and not staying here, frankly you’re missing out by not having this experience in such a cute place and great host. Thank you Iro!

Izmir House is perfectly located. The house is located a stone's throw from the historical center, from the embankment and from the beach of Kum Kapi. And at the same time, it is "hidden" in the narrow streets of Chania away from the crowds of tourists. A great bonus is that you can park your car near the house. We have been to Crete many times, but Izmir House impressed us from the first minutes. This house has everything and even more. Beautiful interior, everything is done with great taste, thought out to the smallest detail. We felt the love with which this house was created. It was very cozy and comfortable... The house is full of modern household appliances. There is absolutely everything. There are even two coffee machines. And to them - several types of coffee. The hospitality of the hosts is beyond praise. We were greeted with a cool drink, fruit, cookies and the most delicious spinach pie. There is a bottle of wine, liqueur and apple pie in the refrigerator - the most delicious pie in the world. Iro gave us a lot of recommendations for visiting interesting places and taverns. The hosts have also prepared an album with descriptions of attractions, beaches, taverns and Greek cuisine. Themos and Iro are very warm and sincere people. They were ready to help at any moment. And we are grateful to fate for meeting these amazing people.

We loved everything!

Our experience with this accommodation was amazing! The hosts were so welcoming and accommodating with anything we needed and went out of their way to help us and be available for us. For starters, the welcoming we received at this property was out of this world! We had a variety of delicious traditional food/snacks/cakes waiting for us on arrival, along with one of the hosts; Iro, who was waiting for us there to give us the keys, welcome us, give us a tour of the house and share some recommendations with us for food, drinks, activities, things to do or see etc. We went to Chania without any plans or ideas on what to do or see and Iro stayed with us for 2 hours helping us to make a plan and giving us recommendations, which we really appreciated! The hosts also had little gifts prepared for us which was super thoughtful! The property itself was pretty amazing! Super modern, central and spacious! Also, there was parking available near the property or in adjacent streets, which was important to us since we had a rental car. We did go early in when Covid restrictions were just easing down so it wasn't super busy, but finding parking was never an issue even when it got busier in the weekends. The property is very central and walking distance to many taverns, restaurants, bars and the port. It was a lively area, but we had no complaints regarding noise. We regretted not spending more time exploring the main area, since it was so picturesque and beautiful, but we used our time there doing day trips in the surrounding areas. Additionally, the house amenities were again amazing and way more than what you would expect from a normal stay! Finally, the whole trip went so smoothly and it wasn't just an amazing stay, it was also an amazing experience thanks to our hosts!

The apartment was AMAZING. Decorated so stylishly and cozy. Very clean. Had everything you could ever need from cookware, assortment of coffees and teas,olive oil, salt and seasonings for cooking , shampoo, toothpaste, you name it !! The area was the best !! Located right on the harbor, can walk to all the best restaurants and bars, markets and a beautiful beach! The hosts were AMAZING. We have never had more welcoming , kind, accommodating and helpful hosts. Iro provided us with freshly baked pies and treats and provided us with all the best recommendations ! Her attention to detail and amazing hospitality were almost unbelievable. She went extremely above and beyond. The level of hospitality is something we are going to remember forever. If you’re going to be traveling to Chania , you’d be very lucky to stay here.
