How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

It’s located in a really useful spot but it can be noisy when trying to sleep. It was fine though and minor when considering all the positives.
The hotel was really helpful at answering my questions and went the extra mile to make sure we had a good stay. The location is really good for getting about.

great location of the apartment. Combustion equipment has high demands. Daily cleaning, fresh towels, nice atmosphere. Contact with the owner at the highest level :)

It was super quiet. We did not hear any traffic or neighbors even while having the window open. Modern bathroom and nice coffee machine. Room was cleaned daily by a very nice lady.

The shower cubicle is not water tight and leaks to the bathroom during shower. A very noisy bar downstairs blasting music through the night, but only on Friday and Saturday nights.
Great location for people who use public transport. Very clean. Spacious room, tastefully decorated. Very helpful staff although only communicating through messages, very responsive and let us checkin early for free. Great stay overall.

There is no elevator however our room was on the first floor and we only had one big luggage so it was not a problem for us :).
Room was very clean, modern and central. Although there is no reception, communication with staff was very easy through what's app.

Good and comfortable room, proximity to the old part of the city is a big advantage. Nice, helpful and friendly service. Small cosmetics and disposable slippers for guests are a nice surprise, I highly recommend this apartment.

apartment was in a great location close to the old town. communication with host was very clear and responsive. the cleaning of the facility was especially good, our cleaning lady was amazing! thank you!

There wasn’t much not to like.
Everything was clean and in order, as well as nice-looking and cosy. We appreciated the travel sustainability (hand soap, shower and shampoo dispensers), as well as the other travel items that were provided (my partner was very pleased to find a beard-shaving kit and a sewing kit exactly when needed). Extra pods for the coffee machine were supplied daily. We also liked the candy on the counter up front, which were also restocked daily, haha. For us the location was a plus, as we had an early flight, which we could easily get to by a bus taken from the main station right across the street. The beach and central-touristy area was a max 10-minute walk, si nit that far either.

Careful with water running down shower door to outside shower space and onto bathroom floor.

There are stairs that might be difficult for large baggage such as baby carriage/stroller
Great location just opposite central bus station im Chania. Few minutes walk from city center and harbour. Coffee in the morning masę my day. Room was cery comfortable, quiet, very well equipped and all clean.

Shower design meant it leaked. Stairs down from the bedroom need to have some sort of railing to hold onto. It is ok as we did not really use that bed, but if we did, I would be concerned.
Location is great, right by the bus station. 2 minute walk to the old town. Room was kept nice and clean

You must have internet on your phone, because they send the code to enter a few minutes before 15:00
The room was at the opposite side of the road of the bus station. But very near to the old town too. There are shops and restaurants nearby. The room was very comfortable, silent. Everything was new and good hold, very clean. The check-in without reception is easy.
