Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustriaStavros and Vicky have managed to capture a piece of paradise! The setting of the taverna is spectacular and the food is fantastic. Everything is freshly prepared and many of the ingredients come from their own garden, the olives from their trees. The room and furnishings were perfectly adequate - we loved our stay.

Loved the service and food, the owners and kitchen staff are an amazing family, and the serving staff are exceptional. The rooms were very clean. Well done, Miss Vagia, for spotless cleaning and housekeeping. A piece of paradise on the south coast. Can't be any better. Thank you!

AustraliaIt was difficult in the booking process to secure a room with bedding configuration of two separate beds for our teenaged children. There was no ability to select which room / the bedding configuration (one room has a double bed plus a single bed - this is the one we were trying to secure as the other three rooms are double beds only). So paying in advance, with no cancellation policy if the correct room isn't available is a gamble. I would think this is easy to fix. We did end up getting the room we needed which was appreciated.
Food was fantastic as always. The location is stunning. Facilities simple but very adequate. Taverna is always a highlight - right on the water, watching the sunset.

United KingdomForget taking a large suitcase down the hillside and across the beach to the taverna, plus there is a steep slope up to the accommodation from the taverna. We were never able to park in the small car park and had to park half way up the hill, despite being paying guests. There must be quite a lot of other accommodation nearby and there can be several cars parked on the road with tourists visiting the taverna. The taverna gets busy, with only one waiter that can mean slow service. Service at the taverna was absolutely lack lustre, the waiter was young and needs more training/guidance on making sure diners are looked after, not just fed. I asked for rice not chips with my fish, I have my suspicions it was packet rice as it was a small portion, dry and not quite cooked. We felt the engagement between the staff and residents/diners could've been warmer - we were looking for authentic Crete complete with Cretan hospitality but the staff/owners (?) didn't seem interested as both nights we ate at the taverna they sat and chatted with family or a visiting friend/relative. I didn't see them have even a brief non-functional conversation with any of the guests/diners - maybe they did, I just didn't witness it. No recommendations or available information offered for local sites/beaches or where the nearest supermarket might be. Maybe because we were there just two nights? However, we did eat in the taverna both nights. There was a kettle in the room, free coffee was supplied (thank you) but only for the first night. We had coffee once in the morning and in the evening. Twice we had to ask for a top up of supplies. Not once were we asked if we enjoyed our stay, or if everything was OK. Hence this review. I felt like we were part of a transactional arrangement not guests at a family run hospitality business. Disappointingly poor guest experience. For that reason we would never return despite the idyllic setting.
If you want to get away from it all, this is the perfect location. You will need a car and the journey is an experience in itself along mountain roads to and from this beachside taverna with accommodation. There is parking on the hill approach road and a small car park. The view from the apartment's balcony is just spectacular - absolutely heavenly. We had very high winds one day, but it was sheltered in the little bay where the taverna is set. The accommodation is a little like Greece thirty or so years ago, very authentic and charming complete with a slightly sloping floor. The shower room has been modernised though! The bed was super comfy, the a/c very efficient and the shower had great pressure and hot water, the room is very clean. As we left and I informed the chef and gave our thanks, he gave us two free small bottles of water for the journey. Small acts of kindness are appreciated. The food in the taverna is typical Greek fare and there is an open kitchen.

ItalyAgia Fotia is an amazing place, located in one of the most beautiful areas of Crete. The rooms are cozy and the view from the private terrace is breathtaking: sea and mountains during the day and the amazing night sky full of starts in the night. The taverna downstairs has great food and It was so good that we had dinner there for five times in a row. The fish is super fresh and tasty, great wine and typical greek and cretan starters. From Agia Fotia you can easily reach the most beautiful and famous beaches in the area (such as Preveli) but there Is also a lovely private beach just outside the taverna. Very welcoming staff and hosts, it's definitely worth to spend a few nights in this great place!

United KingdomPerfect setting with exceptional views. The dining terrace is absolute waterfront with the. sea lapping up against the wall. The bedrooms are relatively small, have fridge, tea making facilities and small balcony with fantastic views over the sea. Stavros, Vicky and family are delightful hosts and make one feel immediately welcome. The menu is varied and all the dishes are absolutely delicious and nicely presented. This was our third visit and each time it gets better, relaxing from the moment of arrival to the moment of departure.

SwitzerlandA very unique place. The taverna in a secluded bay as a stand-alone house. Wonderful, wonderful food (dinner and breakfast), quiet and relaxed, familiar atmosphere. The best view ever from the rooms - directly onto the sea and nothing else :) Rooms are very clean and have everything you need. At night, the sky is fully dark and the amount of stars on a clear night - wow!
