Saccharum - Resort & Spa on ylellinen 5 tähden designhotelli. Se sijaitsee Calhetan rannalla Madeiran vuoriston ja Atlantin valtameren välillä. Iso ja hyvätasoinen hotelli saaren lounaisosassa, vajaa tunti lentokentältä pikatietä pitkin. Erittäin ystävällinen henkilökunta, useampi ravintola ja kohtuullinen Spa-osasto. Palvelut toimivat. Yökerhoja kaipaaville ei paras vaihtoehto sen enempää hotellina kuin paikkakuntanakaan. Valitussa huoneessa ollut vuode oli riittävän kokoinen, ilman tarkistusmittausta 220x260. Myös peitto riitti kummallekin.

Ponta do Solissa sijaitsevassa Escarpa - The Madeira Hideawayssä on ravintola, ulkouima-allas, baari ja puutarha. Gorgeous, clean, modern hotel. We had a wonderful room with a terrace that had both lounge chairs and a table and chairs. The view was spectacular (endless blue ocean). Great bed, great shower, small fridge. Peace and quiet. Other guests were friendly and considerate. Most importantly though, the staff was fabulous! All very lovely people and good at their jobs. And the breakfast... just amazingly good and copious, every single day, with cereals, eggs, yogurt, fruits, cheeses etc. Great coffee and tea too. Their fresh orange juice is the best I have ever tasted. The small restaurant at the bottom of the slope had really good food (soup, fish, pasta etc) and enthusiastic and fun service (the server is a truly delightful person), and a gorgeous view. Pricing is decent, in line with other restaurants on the island. The pool is beautiful (not heated). With some courage, we managed to swim daily in early March. There is a warm jacuzzi next to it where you can warm up again :) Location is pretty good for driving up to the Paul da Serra area in the mountains, where you can do some nice hiking (the 25 fontes levada and Fanal forest for example).

Featuring a balcony with sea views, a private beach area and a casino, Lydia's Place can be found in Funchal, close to Almirante Reis Beach and 2.4 km from Gorgulho - Gavinas Beach. Everything was good. Nice place well equipped and helpful staff.

Set in Boaventura, 21 km from Santana's traditional houses, Terrabona Nature & Vineyards offers accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a restaurant. We stayed 3 days in one of the beautiful villa’s on the wine yard. We loved the privacy and quietness. The villa has a nice living room with kitchen where you can relax or make a small meal. We tasted on of their own produced wines which tasted great. Every morning fresh bread was delivered. There is a good espresso maker. After a day hiking you can swim in the pool and enjoy the view to the ocean, take a sauna or bath in the villa. There are several very good restaurants just 15 min ride from the villa. Not to forget the bed, bedsheets, pillows are amazing. We both slept very good. If you open the door you hear all night the sound of the river. Had best sleeping score since months
