Our hosts Andrea and Paul were so helpful and pleasant and adept at steering us in the hiking pathways we wanted. The pub was welcoming every evening for a relaxation and the dinners were wholesome and tasty esp the carvery on Sunday. The lamb roast was perfection. We will return along with the birds.

This grand beautiful historic building is being renovated by the present owners. I had a room with a sea view which was magnificent. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. I loved the towel warmer and excellent water pressure in the shower. The staff were amazing. Sam, the owner’s son, went above the call of duty to provide towels and vacuum the sand I tracked into the room. Harvey, the owner, was fantastic! He even gave me a ride to the bus station. If you are interested in historic preservation this is the hotel for you. It sits actually into the sea next to Bain’s Beach. I had a fabulous week at the Queens Hotel.

Set in Lerwick, 600 metres from Bain's Beach, Islesburgh House Hostel offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a restaurant. This hostel was excellent, great value for money, very clean, all required facilities. Above all the manager was so friendly and helpful - what a difference that makes to a stay. Would highly recommend to families looking for reasonably priced, spacious and clean accomodation in Lerwick. We have a three year old and she loved it, excellent park and swimming pool nearby.
