Ancient Agora of Athens

Even though our worlds are divided by centuries, the ancient Greeks weren't all that different from us. They still liked to head out, meet up, and do a little shopping – and they did that at public squares known as agoras. The Ancient Agora of Athens was more than just a market and meeting place though. This was the cultural and political heart of the ancient city, and excavations have uncovered a treasure trove of artefacts and chambers that bring the reality of living in ancient Greece right into the present day.

    Very interesting and large!

Very interesting and large! You can wander among the ancient sites. Look for the water clock, the temple at the top of the hill and many statues. There was a small museum and the entire site was a park-like setting with the freedom to wander about with very little blocked off. We liked it and spent about 3 hours there.

Don't miss the Temple of Haephaestus up on the hill, the most intact ancient greek temple anywhere or the Stoa of Attalos reconstruction which contains a fascinating museum with waterclock for timing politicians speeches and ostraka for voting to exile people(as in ostracism).Church of the Holy Apostles also worth a look.Plenty of parrots and tortoises also feature.
