We booked three nights and could not have been happier! The host family was really an example of panamanian hospitality, they looked after us for trips, gave us tips, and even a small tour around the neighborhood. Very sweet people. Auxi, the host, is an English teacher, so you will have no problems with communication. We loved the stay as it gave us an idea of rural panamanian life and access to more hidden spots to visit (including the 'Pozo azul', which you need to go to). Recommend!

Tocumen International Airport is about 90 minutes' drive away while Rio Hato local airport is just 10 minutes' drive away. 3 min walk to the beach, the hosts are wonderful, rooms are comfortable, and the showers were lovely. There is a relaxing common area at the back under shelter with hammocks to escape the midday heat and a mini supermarket 2 doors down.

At Hostal La Casa de Juan every room includes bed linen and towels. The $3 breakfast was good and reasonably priced / the music was tasteful and not too loud.
