Arrived with the ferry from Bodø to Moskenes and decided to stay in Å for the night to start our Lofoten trip at the southern point. Authentic old rorbu house in the middle of Å. We were skeptical towards shared bathrooms but were pleasantly surprised. They were very clean. In fact, the one we used as a family has not been used, and the facility was fully booked. It is very nice to have a mutual understanding and respect of spaces when shared with others. We got to see the catch of the day from a group that just returned from a fishing trip, which was very exciting for our little one. See fish being gutted, seagulls swarming the area, and crabs fighting on the ocean bed below in the crystal clear water. The room was spacious and had a sink, which was a plus, so one could wash their face and brush teeth in the morning.

Really pretty interior and location just in front of the sea. A lot of space in the room, kitchen and common rooms. Enough bathrooms :) The hostel has a lot of charme. Would definitely go again!

I found the village of A to be almost too quiet, but then again I was there in mid-September. I did, however, enjoy staying at this hostel, located in a historic building. Our room was quite large for three people. Good shower area and communal bathrooms. Free parking was easy to find. There are, fortunately, two places nearby for meals/snacks (the Museum cafe and Brygga waterfront restaurant; otherwise, A does not offer much else besides beautiful scenery.

The size of the room is about twice as big as in other hostels or budget accomodations in the Lofoten. The hostel itself seems to be part of an old fishing village with wooden houses, so if you like that sort of thing this is the place to be for you. Try the (ridiculously) expensive cinnamon buns for 50 NOK a piece at the local bakery. They're very nice.

we were given a free upgrade to one of the fishermen cabin (instead of a private room at the hostel); the cabin was very cute, nicely decorated with a modern bathroom and small, but well equipped kitchen. It was wonderful!

Great location if you want to go for a day trip to Værøy island. An expedition boat departs right outside the hostel. Also great hikes are a bicycle ride away, including Munkebu and Reinebringen. All around a cozy small hostel where you can meet other travellers;)
