It was a quiet neighborhood except for the barking dogs. It's a nice place for an overnight stay. It was also near places to eat, etc. The staff are very nice. Very relaxing and quiet considering how close it is to the busy street! A little sanctuary. Loved the outdoor seating area and garden. Nice big rooms, good facilities, hot water, cute monkeys, nice staff, and comfortable :)

We were lucky to stay at Anand Kanan during our 3-day trip to Varanasi. Both of us were in Varanasi for the first time. The experience on the streets with all the colors,sounds and smells can be intense, so it was very good to have a quiet safe home where we can just come and rest. Rooms are comfortable and clean, and it was great to have a restaurant inside where the food was good and we didnt need to put extra effort to find a good place to eat if we felt tired. It was a great pleasure to meet the owner of the hotel, Arvind. We enjoyed his welcome tea and great conversation about Indian philosophy and Varanasi.

We were warmly welcomed by the owners, and they were very helpful throughout the stay too, providing information, booking tuktuks, and so on. There is a delicious breakfast included. The rooms are big, comfortable, and have all that we need. This place is at the end of a side street so there is not too much noise from the road, and you can get to the sightseeing places, especially Taj Mahal, in a short time.
