Artistic and funky but also warm, friendly and totally unpretentious. The hotel is an old style property, airy and light with big windows and views to the Pico volcano. It is like a gem of an oasis amidst more recent development on the edge of town, but is only ten mins walk down to the big square and port. Breakfast in the spacious dining room is exceptional and the ladies who run the hotel are charming and helpful. We had the extra benefit and unexpected bonus of the Suite, which was like having your own flat with a terrace! There are some trendy restaurant options down the hill with good food - but rather pricey wine, but we found a couple of traditional older places (Medalhas & Lima) that we liked. For whale-watching, Naturalist are a good science-based outfit and if you are short of time or transport they do an excellent half day island tour too - very informative and not touristy. You can do both in one day!

The host was very kind even though we met just briefly during checkin to follow the social distancing.

Located in Horta, Casa BuonVento offers a shared living room. Among the facilities at this property are a shared kitchen and luggage storage space, along with free WiFi throughout the property. Everything was absolutely wonderful! Elena and Jerry really go the extra mile. The house is full or Jerry’s art, which gives it a nice homey touch. You can tell that they love what they are doing. Also if you have any questions about Faial they have the best advise. We tried out all recommended restaurants and coffee shops and they were all good. We would come back any time. The property is a house overlooking the beach, the rooms themselves don't have the oceanview per se but have access to a terrace that does. It was clean and the lady who runs it, Alice, is very nice. Location is also very close to the center of town and nice restaurants and right behind a hiking trail along with the whaling/whale oil museum.

The host, José was very kind and friendly. He helped us in everything. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was good. Beside that the airport is in front of the apartment it was quiet during the night.

The location of this guesthouse is right center in the city, and it has both a reading lounge, pantry and balcony for those looking to relax or work. The staff were also friendly. We had luck in having the available room at the highest floor, overlooking the marina and Pico. Definitely would return and stay here again.

Very clean sweet renovated home. Everything we needed was there. The bedroom was small with private bathroom and air conditioning , it met our needs . There is the option to sit outside and the shared space is very inviting . It feels like home . I would definitely come back again !
