Caldeira Guesthouse is situated in Calheta, 100 metres from the Atlantic Ocean, in the Azorean São Jorge Island. It is located in natural surroundings, within the Fajã da Caldeira de Santo Cristo Natural Park, 30 km from the main village of Velas. I loved everything about this house and my stay here. It is located in an absolutely beautiful place and the green colors surrounding it is something that has to be seen in person as pictures does not do it justice. The house has amazing views, my room was nice and clean and had a very comfortable bed and I had the best night of sleep I have had in a long time. I opted to have breakfast and dinner the two days I was there and both were great and you got to meet and talk to the other people that was staying there. The staff was lovely and David was very helpful and welcoming. This place made me feel so at peace and happy and it did wonders to my soul. The hikes in the area was amazing with spectacular views and to just sit and watch and listen to the ocean brought me so much joy. I did not want to leave and I actually had a chance to get a free ride to the airport but chose not to take it so I could stay an hour and half longer and I'm not a rich person and normally conservative with money. It was so worth it.

Antonio was very friendly and helpful, the room was nice and clean, the garden is beautiful and the location is also very good. Happy with our stay.

The nearest airport is Sao Jorge Airport, 6 km from the guest house. The place exceeded our expectations simply because of its host Rui! Maybe the room is a bit too small but Rui is a gem! He suggested some very best sport to visit on Sao Jorge, helped to solve return time issue with car rental company, suggested few really nice restaurants and even booked few taxi rides for us. We simply forgot about all the small inconveniences in the house, becase Rui made us spend a great time in Sao Jorge and if you read this, Rui, thank you very much!

The suite has 2 decent sized bedrooms with king beds (2 twins together), which were very comfortable. One bedroom had a 3 piece ensuite bathroom and the other 3 piece bathroom was just down the hall from the 2nd bedroom. The kitchen had great appliances, including a washer and clothing steamer. We really enjoyed the patio area with inside views of the courtyard. It was a great location where we could easily walk to the gardens, harbour and shopping area.
