The hotel was very close to the Basilica of St John's and easy walking to all the sights in town.
We were very happy with our room, it was super clean, the decor was beautiful with lovely fabrics, and a little sofa in the bay window. The room had plenty of storage space, a fridge, kettle, safe and TV.
The bathroom was also attractive and well fitted out with good shower, lighting, hairdryer and plenty of towels. Toiletries were provided such as soap, shampoo and shower gel.
Breakfast was excellent. It was a buffet set out on a counter in the pretty courtyard garden, there was also the option to sit inside. The selection was delicious including different breads, fruits, cereals, conserves, cheeses, olives, salads, and dips, a cooked pastry, cake. Plus eggs cooked however you wanted them, and tea or coffee. Each day it was slightly different and the owner even said that we could make a special request if there was something special we wanted, but honestly it wasn't necessary.

Location is amazing - on a hill, in a peaceful area next to a nice village. Accommodation is perfectly maintained, all authentic vintage furniture is in great condition which creates a sense of time travel in this hotel. Food was good and the view from the restaurant is breath taking. A great place to spend a couple of days away from the hassle and enjoy the nature.

Good buffet dinner and breakfast. Willingness to change our room when it was found that there was a bird nest right by our AC outlet - the babies WOULD HAVE DIED if the AC had been used. I communicated with the management, and they assure me that the pipe will be deflected, or the room not used until the baby birds have flown.

The hotel had a fabulous garden complete with tortoises which we enjoyed very much . The location was good .The room was small but clean and the bed was comfortable enough . The hotel had plenty of charm and overall we enjoyed our stay . This is not an expensive choice of hotel and represented good value for the money.

The apartment was very quiet, the balcony offered a view to remember fondly, the people in town so friendly and helpful. We ate twice at the favourite restaurant Ali recommended and we did not regret it. We travelled to Ephesus and selected the inclusive ticket which was 52 euros and it was worth every penny. Plan 4 to 5 hours, go as early as possible to avoid the crowds. We were there at 8:30 and the Firmin the parolier! By the time the crowds started we had walked the entire sight and avoided the heat.

We spent 3 days - one day in Selcuk ( there are 3 sites including Ephesus Museum worth one day) and one day doing Ephesus with a private guide( excellent and picked by the hote) and make sure you do the Terraces( many tours don't include it) and finally you can do 3 amazing sites 1-2 hours away - Piriene, Milietus and Didyma ( very few people do this but worth it). The hotel staff can help you

Smaller and less touristy with locals attentive to your need and willingness to help. Ephesus Archeological Park was the highlight of the visit. There is no dearth of choices for eating - from local Turkish dishes to Burger King. Selchuk is more convenient to stay as beginning from morning you can at your leisurely pace cover St John's Basilica, Artemis Temple, Ephesus Archeological Park and Virgin Mary's House all in one day.

we stayed in Sirince.
we stayed in Sirince. An antique village in the mountains outside of Selcuk. A 19th Century experience in small town Turkey. Bring good shoes for steep hills and uneven ground. Good natural foods from local farms. Expect an authentic experience.

I’m not sure why anyone from away would come to Selcuk...
I’m not sure why anyone from away would come to Selcuk unless they were there to see the antique ruins of Ephesus. That is certainly why we came. If you are in Turkey- I suggest it is a must see.
Ephesus is one of the most excavated sites in the world. It is humbling to see how much as a civilized culture we have forgotten- or forgot and have had to rediscover over the millenniums.
That said, Selcuk had decent dining options, and other attractions like the Ephesus Museum (where the artifacts are housed), and the Saint John Basilica which are fantastic. Both are blocks from the Akanthus hotel (which I reviewed separately and highly recommend .

Lovely town, the people were very friendly and helpful.
Lovely town, the people were very friendly and helpful. Easy to go around. Saturday has a fruit/veg, utensils market behind the bus station. Bus station in the centre of the town. Nice restaurants and good food and prices.
The hotel is located on top of the mountain in Selcuk and has a scenic view. We were lucky and got an upgrade to the best room with a lovely balcony and jacuzzi. The view was amazing! The staff was very kind and helpful with tips around sightseeing and restaurants. You can reach Ephesus in 10 min by car and the small town of Sirince in approx 15 min. We also enjoyed a nice breakfast on the terasse next to the pool. Definitely recommend to stay here when visiting Ephesus and the area!
This is a perfectly located small hotel for seeing Ephesus and staying in Selcuk. Our rooms were clean and spacious, and the breakfast was excellent. The best part of our experience were the recommendations from the hotel's owner and the private tour he provided us with. He brought us to amazing sites and to restaurants with amazing food at bargain prices (no rip offs; just great food). Very friendly and helpful staff. Would highly recommend.
The property is a restored heritage building in the old city center of Selcuk. It is absolutely beautiful and well thought of in every detail, from architecture to food and hospitality of staff to the interior details and landscape features of the courtyard and pool…everything we experienced was just perfect and allowed us to take a much needed rest and soak in some authentic luxury amid a series of tiering and long excursions in Selcuk.
Super comfortable beds with curtains for privacy, clean hostel and located 30sec walk from center.
The hostel is brand new (1month only) and is much better than many hotels in Turkey.
The staff Ozgun and Yusef are super nice and professional.
you can reach Ephesus old city by bus that is 3min walking from the hostel.
if you have car or motorcycle you can park on the street in front of hostel under security cameras.
Urkmez is not a hotel. Its a home away from home. It was my last place to stay in turkey and what a surprise gift. I enjoyed the hospitality of Urkmez family and by the end of stay I was part of the family. Great breakfast, neat and clean room, very strong wi fi connection. Above all a warm welcome, every time I came back from my daily tour.
I will miss them. Each one of them. My good wishes to urkmez family.
The view over Selçuk and Ayasuluk Hill were absolutely extraordinary. We asked our lovely hotelier Okyay where the best place to watch the sunset was, and he simply said 'Here'. He was absolutely right. The breakfast was lovely, the pool area was great, and the staff were very friendly. A special thanks to Okyay, who helped us book our car hire and was really helpful in facilitating our various activities.
Nice small hotel for those who want to visit Efes and spend the night close by in the small town of Selçuk. The rooms are rather small and a bit dated, but clean and well kept, with nice staff and good price. Free parking in front of the hotel if you let them know in advance. Good location close to the nice park and the town center a short walk away. Good choice among those available in Selçuk.
The location on the “historic” edge of Selçuk was great for walking to several sites, e. g. the temple of Artemis, the excellent small museum of Ephesus, the basilica of St. John. Hotel staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. Facilities were clean and modern and tasteful. and the Hotel restaurant was superb, with an excellent young chef.
Hotel Kalehan blew us away- the food in their restaurant was some of the best we had in all of Turkey, after multiple high end places in Istanbul. The grounds were gorgeous with tons of flowers everywhere, and a lovely pool. We loved the staff and had a lovely stay. Highly recommend for anyone in the area!
Ilker is always there for a chat and great recommendations for stuff in & around Selcuk. He's a very friendly and kind host. The breakfast will blow your mind. The rooms are impeccable & comfy. The pool and peaceful courtyard are the extra touches that make Nazar Hotel a true paradise.
Amazing hotel, one of the best we had during our stay in Turkey. Service is great (responsive, patient and kind), room was very refined and beautiful, pool was very nice, breakfast was delicious and generous. Location is amazing, everything is super close!
Breakfast was amazing, a lot of different dishes, the best traditional turkish brekfast I've eaten in Turkey. Room was absolutely new, and very interesting shower in the bathromm with lot's of dirrefent moder to use. People were very friendly and helpful.
This was our 2nd stay at the property in 3 years. Once again our host Emre', exceeded our expectations and provided us with top class service and yet another memorable stay. This is one of my favourite hotels in Turkey.
Would love to come back again.
Really beautiful antique hotel. Staff was helpful and kind. Shower got really hot which was nice after a long day of walking. Breakfast was delicious. So many options. And the coffee was amazing as well. Best I had during my entire trip in Turkey!
Staff were exceptionally nice and very helpful. Our stay was comfortable and very good value. The experience made our holiday in Turkey so enjoyable we are already planning a return trip.
The staff is really nice, they helped me when I needed in the end of my stay. Also I got to have a great conversion with the receptionist, discussing about Turkey's history and more.
The most beautiful place we have been in our trip in Turkey so far. Nice and curated in all details. Personnel is friendly and food is excellent. Very very very recommended!
