Great rustic city with lots to offer for all travelers.
Great rustic city with lots to offer for all travelers.
Being both Ramadhan and Easter weekend, we had different objectives for our stay. However, it is easier, and probably cheaper if in groups to travel by Tuk tuks (rickshaws) within and around the city.

I loved the tour of fort Jesus and the drive through Mombasa town. We had lunch at a place called char choma right on the beach front in Nyali, they have amazing barbecues. You definitely need a car to take you around Mombasa, anything less than that is not a good experience. Be careful with the locals, always ask the cost of their services before getting yourself involved. Google maps will be your best friend, it lets you know where the restaurants, shopping malls e.t.c are located.

Mombasa is HOT, and I love hot weather so it was fine for me. It is very peaceful, laid back place, and the people were very friendly. A simple NO to a street vendor was fine. We went to Nyali public beach, very nice.

Mombasa, a Kenyan metropolis, ensconced on the cusp of the Indian Ocean, proffered an experience both exhilarating and immersive. The city's historical tapestry, woven with threads of Portuguese, Arab, and British influences, manifested in its magnificent architecture, from the imposing Fort Jesus to the labyrinthine alleys of the Old Town.
My peregrinations led me through bustling marketplaces, where cacophonous haggling painted a vivid picture of the city's commercial heart. The vibrant hues of spices, the aromatic allure of freshly brewed Kenyan coffee, and the captivating calls of vendors all coalesced into an intoxicating sensory experience.
Beyond the urban hum, the pristine beaches beckoned, their silken sands fringed by turquoise waters. Indulging in the aquatic embrace of the Indian Ocean, I found solace in the rhythmic caress of the waves and the mesmerizing spectacle of the sun dipping below the horizon, casting an incandescent ember across the sky.
Mombasa's culinary scene tantalized my taste buds with an explosion of flavors. From the delicate nuances of Swahili cuisine to the fiery depths of Ethiopian stews, each meal was a revelation, a testament to the city's rich cultural heritage.
Departing Mombasa, I carried with me an indelible mosaic of memories – a kaleidoscope of sights, sounds, and flavors that forever etched this captivating coastal haven in my mind's eye.

Beautiful beaches, friendly people, great local food & the fruit is amazing We were away from CBD ( whose heavy traffic hours are crazy!), and enjoyed the slower pace nearer the beach areas. It's quite easy to get around Mombasa & to cross from the North to the South Coast areas & vice versa using the now very reliable ferry system. The little tuk tuk vehicles tend to be popular but fast paced drivers find them to be a nuisance

Swimming in the pool proved a good way to enjoy the vacation with the children. We also visited Haller Park and the tour guide was very good and helpful. We also visited the Fort Jesus. Time spent at Shanzu beach was great. We enjoyed public transport though the shops were a bit far.
The hotel is well located for two specific reasons: proximity to the old town of Mombasa where my work destination is located, and the wonderful sunset view towards Fort Jesus and the Old Town. The facility is quite modern and well maintained. The rooms are spacious. There is also a variety of nice restaurants on spot. The staff is really helpful with a problem-solving attitude. It's a great choice for a work-related trip.
Enjoyed my weekly vacation in Elna's Haven aka. APA apartment. I took the kings room and views were simply amazing with extended indian ocean views. Its an apartment and other rated groceries like carefour and Naivasha is within 1 mile radius. Suggest to go for your vacation which totally outside from city's boisterous and loud life and enjoy sunrise in Nyali beach through windows 🔆. Recommended .....
The staff team was cordial, polite and friendly. The room service staff- Constance and Patrick (Grill bar waiter) were so helpful and friendly. The hotel is close to the beach. I booked an ocean view room and an upper floor room and got exactly that. The hotel had a Christmas pre-party which was just fantastic! The hotel had an evening live soft music during dinner which was lovely!
I really enjoyed my stay at the Ivory Suites. The staff were friendly, breakfast generous, the location is central to everything in Mombasa so I could walk to the spice market, old town and Fort Jesus. There are lots of food options all around and a big supermarket a few minutes away. The rooms were very comfortable, WiFi strong, AC excellent, and bathrooms clean. Highly recommend!
We were stranded and the owner-Jarvis came through for us within a short space of time. He was very welcoming, friendly and made us to feel at home. The place is a minute walk to the beach, the housekeeper, Naomi was very warm and friendly. the place is very clean. Jarvis gave us a list of things to do in Mombasa, which made things easier.
City centre hotel has been a good option for a stopover in Mombasa, before getting to airport early in the morning. It is on the main road, easy for reaching the airport.
Staff is very efficient. We had issues with the power in our plugs, electrician came around within minutes. They provided packed breakfast for our early start.
The Leinmach House helped us to find a backup accommodation, as we were duped by another Mombasa guesthouse. A staff is very friendly. The location is very good, close to the best Mombasa beach and not far away from the Old Town. There is also very nice Italian restaurant in the area.
The location was near to a busy town with shops, markets, banks etc.. It was about 15 minutes to the beaches and 30 minutes from Mombasa town centre but the transport is easy, quick and cheap.
The common areas were both comfortable and nicely designed.
The host (Brian ) was very good, the location has very good access to the supermarket, beach (clean beach ) and to local hotels was good and convenient
The house is spacious , clean, and a very quiet neighbourhood with security
We had a great stay !
The pool and the Moonshine Beach Bar are the highlights of Reef. The Poolside restaurant serves excellent food as well. All of the staff around the hotel (pool, servers, room cleaners etc.) were very friendly. The AC works really well too.
Amazing views of the ocean, very clean and tidy and probably the best mattress I've come across during my month long stay in Kenya.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
I'll love to come back next time I'm in Mombasa!
Breakfast was good and freshly made.
The location is really good, right in the middle of Mombasa town.
Rooms are claen and the necessities were availaed such as soap, shower gel, shampoo
The place was super amazing, the staff Enock was the best, the pool is super clean, very close to the beach, nearest to the supermarket, and everything was just on top. We loved it.
Breakfast was good. My room overlooked the beach and the view was beautiful. I also liked that you can go down to the beach from the hotel. It was a good hotel really.
Its a superb place for any guest to enjoy their stay. Its at a convenient location, near the main road and close walk to the sandy beach at Neptune hotel.
