The bedroom was large, clean and comfortable. I received a lovely greeting on arrival and was offered a choice of food. Fabulous bar area with a roaring fire. Breakfast was perfect. I was also given a takeaway coffee when I was heading home.

I was in Newbury for work at the local showground which was a short 10min drive.
In the evenings we had the pleasure of visiting the local pubs and restaurants of which there are plenty for all tastes and budgets (Italian, That, English, Turkish, Spanish etc) including take always too.
You can stroll along the river, take in the theatre or shopping areas, ideal for a weekend trip with a partner or friends as the racecourse is also close by.

Small market town that has essential shopping and even a family owned department store. There are many walks along the canal or small river that runs around the town. Visit Highclere ( the home of Downton Abbey) or just chill out in the surrounding countryside.

Newbury was a bit of a revelation.
Newbury was a bit of a revelation. To be honest all we needed was a place to eat as we had opted not to eat in the Hotel. There were plenty to choose from on the high street and we opted for a Lebanese which had beautiful food with good service. The high street itself was closed but we had a wander around and discovered what would be a very vibrant centre in the day time
Everything from the beautiful grounds to the gorgeous house. The staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble the receptionist went out of his way to be helpful. The restaurant was excellent offering a superb array of breakfast choices along with hot choices all for £8.00 There was a relaxing bar also offering hot meals.
We were visiting Highclere and I have to say this choice of hotel made the trip even more special. Thank you Donnington and all your staff.
Generally a very nice hotel. Very good, friendly and efficient staff. All the staff we met were polite, cheerful and very helpful. The hotel was very clean and spacious. Our room was a little dated, but well appointed and served its purpose well. All the food we had in the restaurant really was excellent, with a superb selection to chose from.
The hotel was near to where we planed to meet family in Newbury so was convenient for our stay.
My wife and I, along with my parents, had a great stay at the Dolphin. The hotel is full of character and the staff was super friendly. We did not eat at the pub restaurant, but took advantage of their great beer selection. The bathrooms in both of our rooms appeared to be newly renovated and were very nice. The rest of the room was great as well, with decor seeming to have been recently updated.
A quiet holiday rental located within 10mins drive of the main town of Newbury. I stayed in two different properties over a three week period and I can honestly say both properties were well maintain, clean and comfortable.
I would like to say a big thank you Julie from Cherry Bird Park who was an absolute treasure.
The main part of the hotel was nice, the reception and dining area (used for breakfast only for us) look modern and newly renovated.
Very close to town and good parking facilities.
Staff in the breakfast room were brilliant and very helpful. Nice clean high chair provided.
Breakfast was ok, good choice, hot and cold.
Really excellent quality food. Nice atmosphere in the lounge area of the bar we decided to eat there instead of going into restaurant.
Staff were very pleasant and attentive
We were in standard double with single bed for daughter.
Very comfortable room.
Location is not far from Newbury and access to M4.
Room was very clean. The bed was very comfortable. Excellent towels, big and fluffy! The staff were very helpful and friendly. The location is great, a short walk from Newbury town centre and free parking out the front of the hotel. Easy to get to main roads from the location.
Staff were helpful, friendly and professional. The room was clean, well sized and very pleasant. The hotel was set in splendid grounds offering the feel of strolls in the country and yet close to the centre of Newbury. Excellent value for money as well.
Good location for Town Centre and Newbury Racecourse.
Onsite parking (although not suitable for large vehicle)
Clean and spacious accommodation
Good quality bedding and towels
Tea/coffee/sugar and milk provided
Deluxe rooms are very large. Bed was enormous and very comfortable. Bathroom is nice and clean.
The location is perfect and in the town centre of Newbury. Ideal for Newbury racings
Great location and comfort. In the town centre and near the train station, so very convenient, as I went to visit my son who lives in Newbury. Will definetely come back.
