This is a really nice place to stay in a beautiful small town on the coast. Family run and busy with a comfortable bar and restaurant where you can get decent food most of the day.
Our room was good with very comfortable beds and an en suite shower room.
Breakfast in the morning was substantial - we had the full Scottish to fuel us through a day of cycling but there are lighter options.
The staff who we met were friendly and helpful. The place is well run . We would thoroughly recommend it as a place to stay

Love this hotel! The staff was wonderful and everyone was very gracious during our stay. My brother and his wife loved their room and the furnishings - a step back in time. It was like a honeymoon for them. The food in the dining room was delicious especially the duck breast! My sister and I enjoyed our rooms, very comfortable. Would definitely stay there again . thank you to all the staff. We certainly enjoyed our conversations with all of you.

Note you need to climb a number of stairs to access your room but staff will help if needed.
Laundry service a little $$.
Breakfast was really good and service was good.

Dornoch is such a wonderful town.
Dornoch is such a wonderful town. I was amazed by the architecture from various periods but the Georgian and Edwardian stood out and looked stunning in red sandstone! The castle hotel bar is a must see, also the cathedral where Madonna got married to Guy Ritchie and also Elon Musk got married there too! The beech walks and also the Golf course, rated as the number 1 golf course in Scotland (I spoke to golfers at this festival who gave me their honest opinions) with a links style supposedly better than St Andrews! Although I was there for the local whisky festival, the people were so pleasant and made you feel so welcome and the hotel/ pubs were outstanding with the accompanying food menu's were superb.

Pretty town with a lovely long sandy beach.
Pretty town with a lovely long sandy beach. The Museum and Heritage Trail are very interesting and well worth the time. The cathedral is worth a visit and there are some interesting shops to explore. And we noticed an electric car charging point! We only stayed one night but it would have been better to have stayed for two as we didn't have enough time to visit all the attractions.

Very enjoyable, staying in a castle felt special and exclusive and staff were friendly and professional. The food was amazing and also special. Dornoch itself has lovely shops and the Castle Hotel is right in the centre with its own parking.
The location is very good, in a quiet street across from a church and at the end of the Main Street which has all the bars and restaurants etc within a 15 min walk. Breakfast was freshly made and excellent. There are only two rooms so its very peaceful and the host was so friendly. Parking is nearby in the church car park and free. We were there for a golf break and Royal Dornoch is a 15 min walk away , with Golspie , Tain and Brora all within a short drive. All should be played if you're a golf fan.
We were gifted our stay by our family gif my husbands 70th birthday and could not fault it. The room was clean and well laid out, beds were comfortable and the food was very tasty. Staff were amazing and the owner even took us to one of the local distilleries due to a limited taxi service in the area; this was again a present for my husbands birthday.
we would definitely recommend this gem of a hotel
The location is superb for what we wanted it for...the golf course! Less than five minutes walking and you're on the course. The cottage is lovely, in a quiet area with easy access to everything you'd need. Around a ten minute walk into Dornoch. The kitchen was amazingly well stocked with everything you need to cook for yourself.
A very comfortable, clean apartment, in an ideal position in Dornoch.
Loved the heated floors in Kitchen and Bathroom!
Bed was very comfortable, and plenty of hot water for shower.
Great location to travel on 'day trips' up the NC500 or drive down to Inverness.
We would certainly recommend to friends and family.
the rooms were spacious, very clean with comfy beds. the location was fantastic to get to the golf club and the town. the owners were both lovely, very welcoming and cooked a nice breakfast for us each day. we really enjoyed our stay and if we are ever staying in dornoch again we will definitely stay here again.
An wonderful stay at the Dornoch Station Hotel. It is newly renovated to a high standard and the staff are exceptional; so pleasant, helpful and professional. Ideal location near the town but with the beach right in front. Would recommend to anyone looking to stay in Sutherland. We hope to visit again.
I planned trip around the country and stayed in 6 different hotels. This was the one I was most excited for because the exterior pictures of the property were very beautiful. The exterior, hot breakfast, and larger rooms were the only thing I liked about this hotel. The staff was nice too.
Easy check in. Responsive host when we couldn't find kettle - bizarrely it was in dishwasher! Amazing beaches, golf courses, golf range, good pubs and shops one mile away in Dornoch , stunning sunrise behind caravan.
Quiet location, everything needed was catered for. Comfortable cabin, friendly park managers and neighbors.
Wine and shortbread was a bonus. DVD's and books were well received.
Easy distance to Dornoch and beyond.
Great location! Historical Hotel and beautiful grounds, especially in the back property. Near the 3rd oldest Golf course in the world! Food was great and staff were friendly! Would recommend with no hesitations!
The fact that it was dog friendly was really helpful, as we wanted our dog to come along and experience the NC 500 with us. It was a cute BNB, could use some updating in the rooms but it was comfortable enough.
Hotel looked slightly tired on the outside but there has been a lot of upgrade work been carried out on the internal of the hotel including the rooms. I would stay here again on my next visit to Dornoch.
Great location in the Highlands with a lovely en-suite facility. Breakfast was delicious and enough for lunch as well! Very helpful owner with their friendly retriever!
Gorgeous hotel!! Would definitely stay again. Quiet. Clean. Incredible location. Gorgeous room. Beyond perfect (except for dim lighting in the bathroom).
