We had a wonderful stay in Manteigas thanks to the absolutely perfect hosts. If you are looking for a home away from home in an oasis of peace, then this is the place. Ilda and Alberto took great care of us and made the stay one to remember.

Sveitagistingin er með WiFi og einkabílastæði án endurgjalds.... Experiencing Casa do Fundo is like experiencing a piece of history in the Serra d’Estrela foothills. Pedro greats you with a warm welcome to his Bed and Breakfast which was first run by his grandparents in this beautifully maintained and restored 120 year old building. The building and it’s out buildings tell the story of the neighborhood if take the time to ask questiones. The beautiful “forno” in the side yard was shared by the neighbors on bread day- but now his bread is delivered fresh with the honk of a horn. Pedro has maintained a lot of the antique furniture and it is a privilege to use it. It appears that he serves the wonderful typical Portuguese breakfast with his grandmothers dishes. Note- this breakfast is typical for the types of foods provided, but atypical for the variety of cheeses, breads, sweets and cereals that he offers. The location is country side, a short drive out of Seia where you are greeted by the sheep that stay nearby at night. If you like to experience the history and culture of Portugal, appreciate beautiful landscaping and a warm personality- choose Pedro’s. If you like cookie cutter lodging and standard food- you need to go somewhere else.

Recantos da Estrela er gististaður í Sabugueiro, 19 km frá Parque Natural Serra da Estrela og 44 km frá Mangualde Live Artificial-ströndinni. Þaðan er útsýni til fjalla. Casa da Ribeira do Círio er staðsett í Seia, 33 km frá Parque Natural Serra da Estrela og býður upp á fjallaútsýni, ókeypis WiFi og ókeypis einkabílastæði. Besides the property being absolutely serene and beautiful, the owner was so helpful and responsive. Was such a joy to spend time with him. Helped us with directions and sites to see. Would highly recommend this lovely place.

Casas do Terreiro er staðsett í Seia, 6 km frá Bread Museum. Það er leikherbergi á staðnum og gestir geta notið veitingastaðarins. Gistirýmið er með setusvæði. Upon arriving at this guest house one would wonder where they are. It seems to be in the middle of nowhere but that is exactly the charm of it. We were immeditaely very warmly greeted by Carlos and taken to a lovely room which was immaculate. A bottle of local wine was waiting for us. We were asked if we would like dinner and were then give a few choices. We were there off season and were the only guests in the restaurant so dinner was prepared especially for us and it was fabulous!!! Made with so much love. The same for breakfast. Our table was laid out with so many nice choices and again, just for us. The dinning area is so quaint. Really quite special. After having been surrounded by ship tourists this place was exactly what we were seeking. If you are looking for some peace and quiet and a piece of authentic countryside this is the perfect place.

SerraVale er staðsett í Manteigas, í innan við 600 metra fjarlægð frá Manteigas-hverunum og býður upp á garð og ókeypis WiFi. Easy to find, close to supermarket, solid construction, nice garden, place for parking, clean room, hot water, wi-fi, fantastic breakfast… Everything! Words are not enough to describe Elsa’s hospitality and care. It’s 12 of 10! Will definitely stay at SerraVale again.
