So much to do in the main centre of Franschoek as well as the surrounding areas amidst the many wine estates, cafes, delis, restaurants, galleries. Also enjoyed experiencing nature, being surrounded by the beautiful landscape and mountains. Franschoek is a true gem.

The village was easy to navigate by foot. Great restaurants were close to the hotel. There were lovely shops a-plenty. The security has increased a lot since our last visit as had general cleanliness. Service everywhere was exemplary.

The main purpose of going to Franschhoek is to eat in some of the fabulous restaurants. Apart from that there is not a lot else to do and it can be very hot making it uncomfortable just to walk around the village. If self catering there are very good grocery stores including Woolworths Food and a relatively new and modern Checkers. There is also a large Pick n Pay but it is a much lower standard than the other two which are more up market.

We love Franschhoek and could easily have stayed longer.

We love Franschhoek and could easily have stayed longer. We love wandering along Huguenot Street with its many shops and small restaurants and the market on Saturdays and Sundays. We visited Haute Cabriere, Mont Rochelle and Mullineux & Leeu. We enjoyed an excellent lunch in all and had the best wine tasting in Mullineux & Leeu. On the way out we had “high tea” (at 10.30 am) in Orangerie at Le Lude which was quite amazing

Loved Franschhoek but 2 or 3 nights here would probably be enough as town is lovely but small. A great base for doing the winre tram and visiting the various wineries but many can also be reached just as easiliy from Stellenbosch which seemed a little livelier and more going on. Liked the market with drinks and music. Drivers take note the pass into Franschhoek (the R45 from the R43 or R321) is closed 0900-1700 weekdays until the end of Feb 2024!

    Franschoek is a gem!

Franschoek is a gem! Fabulous places to stay, a most beautiful Main Street with so much character, beautiful shops and restaurants, and the Wine Tram. This runs like clockwork and is a perfect way to visit several wine estates without needing to use your car. The estates are fabulous and you stop as long as you like, hopping on the next tram when you are ready!

First of all the host James, Norma and Milo will feel you so welcome. No is not an answer for them, they will help with anything what you need. For example, James organized that our car could get cleaned for a small fee. But it didn’t stopped with that. The place is lovely and perfectly located in the middle of Franschhoek. So a lot on walking distance but not the noise of the main Street. Norma will get you the best scrambled eggs and a delicious fruit salad in the morning. We will 100 percent return to Petit Ermitage.

Beautiful location and privacy. Christelle was very responsive to any questions. She greeted us at check in. Cottage has a Mediterranean feel to it. There are grape vines growing around it and even though there is no ac, it is always cool inside, maybe because of the construction. There is also a nice sitting area outside for breakfast and just chilling in the evening. We stayed at milkwood and it has two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. We will definitely be staying here when we are in Franschhoek again. Thanks

I was one of the unfortunate few who were stranded in Franschhoek due to the floods. Even though there was a skeleton staff available, the hotel tried to accommodate the needs of the guests. Good communication, and support offered under very challenging circumstances (without electricity and water for a few hours). Great location to access town. Beautiful setting (recommend the lake facing rooms). Comfortable rooms with all necessary amenities.

This is a wonderful place to stay! The staff goes out of their way to make things comfortable and perfect. The breakfast is great with many options and great coffees. There is a quaint little bar area with a cozy fireplace. From umbrellas to laundry to recommendations to reservations to comfortable rooms to arranging a driver (and on and on) I can’t say enough awesome things about this boutique hotel. Our stay at this hotel in Franschhoek was highlighted by the complimentary wine tasting at Rickety Bridge, a thoughtful gesture that set the tone for a memorable visit. The service was exceptionally attentive, with the convenience of being able to contact them anytime via WhatsApp.Nestled in the picturesque surrounds of a renocated farm, the ambiance was charming.

Stunning boutique hotel with very comfortable communal area with an honesty bar that was FOC. Breakfast was high quality although did notice a lot of waste from the fruit / bread / meat trays that are given to every table. Location is perfect for Franshoek and staff very welcoming and knowledgeable of the local and surrounding area

Auberge Chanteclair is far more than a hotel. The staff and the atmosphere there truly makes you feel at home. The breakfast is delicious, the staff goes out of their way to assist you and the scenery in and around the property is stunning. Would give more than 5 stars if I could.
