Very secluded getaway location pretty much designed specifically for wine makers because there wineries for Africa there, but the town lacks in offering much else as a reason to go there unless you’re into tramping (the surrounding areas are tailor made for it) - very little tourist attractions offered in the township compared to nearby Wanaka which punches well above its weight.

Great for wine tasting, especially also at Bannockburn, Lowburn and Northburn. Particularly recommended a booking at Felton Road. Waterpark adds a new dimension. Walking and cycling. It can be windy and also grey in winter.

It had been 12 years since we last visited Cromwell.
It had been 12 years since we last visited Cromwell. Not surprisingly it had grown and changed significantly - and for the better. The town has a pleasant ambience about it and the people appear very relaxed. Everything one wants is there and there is a comprehensive range of retail and hospitality. We liked our trip so much that we shall be returning for a more thorough look around.

It is a friendly, well-kept town with fabulous scenery.
It is a friendly, well-kept town with fabulous scenery. Very close to Arrowtown and Queenstown without the traffic hassles (especially of Qtown). It has a reasonable number of shops, enough restaurants and pubs. we didn't have kids but there seemed to be plenty of places for them to run around and play. it felt safe and inviting.

Great accommodation that was not expensive but very homely...
Great accommodation that was not expensive but very homely and a central location to see and visit the rest of Central Otago. Dined at the Town and Country Club , Carrick Winery, barbequed at our unit.
Outstanding property. So private and quiet with all the must have touches and an incredible shower. Bliss!
Nespresso machine, smart tv, washer/dryer and apowerful heat pump made our stay perfect.
From salting the stairs, leaving lights & heating on; along with all the delicious treats, we could not have asked for more.
Loved our walks to Black Rabbit for coffee and cheese rolls but the highlight was meals at Bannockburn Hotel.
Amazing views and location. The hosts have two rooms for two sets of guests but we were lucky enough to have the space to ourselves. Jan and Barry made us feel very welcome providing a delicious breakfast with homemade apricot jam and granola. We were biking the Dunstan and the location was perfect for this. We were also able to walk into Cromwell Heritage Precinct which has delightful shops and a great bar Penny Black.
We stayed in Cromwell as we had picked up our daughter from Otago Uni in Dunedin for the school holidays and then drove into Arrowtown/Queenstown so wanted somewhere outside of Queenstown to stay. It was just perfect! A great spacious place with everything we needed. It was clean, warm, comfy, quiet and modern. Would thoroughly recommend.
Modern and clean accommodation, which is well appointed and very comfortable. The rooms are motel style (as in, side by side in a row, although you don't park in front of the room), which makes them very quiet. The rooms are nicely decorated, very clean, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay in Cromwell.
Well-appointed and comfortable unit with view of the grapevines from your patio. Bbq to cook an easy dinner and an assortment of breakfast items delivered to room...what is there not to like?
Great hosts and a wine tasting of River Rock wines was a bonus. Great location to explore Cromwell area.
A lovely motel situated in the heart of Cromwell. Very close to supermarkets and restaurants. Our room was lovely- very comfy bed and great bathroom facilities. It was very quiet and the room was very big and had everything you needed. The wifi was excellent and the TV had all the sky channels.
Extremely comfortable well appointed unit. The views at any time of day were exceptional. Our host Fran welcomed us and checked that we had all wee needed for our stay. She was keen to provide information about the neighborhood as well as Cromwell itself.
The hotel is sitting in the surroundings of mountains, and we saw the pink morning clouds. The parking is convenient. The room has a balcony overlooking the lagoon. It’s nice they offer warm breakfast with plenty of selections, though a bit pricey.
We stayed in 3 different hotels over our holiday and this one was well on top, beautiful view from every room. Beautiful bath tub, comfy bed. Lovely balcony. Car parked right outside our door. Couldn’t flaw a thing! We loved our stay here!!
The view and welcoming nature of the decor and room were fantastic. We couldn’t have asked for anything more, honestly. It was a short drive to Queenstown yet truly felt in the middle of wine country which is what we wanted.

A well-equipped pleasant motel; bathroom recently renovated to high standard; added bonus of swimming pool and outdoor sitting area; wine glasses in the fridge was a nice touch.
