The best thing is location of the hotel. The food was very good, but small portions. I recommend to eat any king of pizza.

A pretty little town, easy to walk around the cobbled streets around the castle (or prison - fascinating history!). Ancient bridge...lots of character. Apparently the orange festival is an event not to be missed (early February).
We also drove to Lago de Viverone (1/2/ hour) - stunning. Amazing views, nice walk, & good places to eat. Highly recommended.

Ivrea is a historical place with nice places to visit. Having said that, there are not so many to fill a long staying, so do not plan along holiday here, unless you also plan to visit the many great restaurants located a bit everywhere in town.

Ivrea, although historic, was pretty limited in any entertainment.
The most enjoyable part of Ivrea was the bistro at the railway station. It served some of the best cuisine that I encountered in my 7 week visit to Italy. Top quality food at an affordable price. The staff were extremely courteous.

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon so a lot of the shops were closed however the town still had lots of atmosphere. Ideally you would need 2 to 3 days to experience the place properly. We found a lovely little trattoria with great food and wine. The owner gave us some wise advice on how to avoid Milan on a Monday morning. Will look to return soon and explore the town more.

The historic centre was a delightful surprise.
The historic centre was a delightful surprise. The old town offers lots of variety of architectural features including, on the hill top, a turreted Castle and an elegantly proportioned Cathedral whilst the traffic-free Main Street has delightful squares. There are lots of cafes and good shops too - including a chocolate shop with excellent own-made chocolates. The side-streets towards the hill-side also hold some surprises, including ancient churches. Ivrea is on the pilgrim route to Rome. The river too has a cluster of interesting buildings. I chose Ivrea as an easy place for an overnight stop on a car journey from the UK to the Tuscan coast. It turned out to be an excellent choice. I plan to stop there again.
Food was excellent and the all staff attentive and firendly, in particular, Samantha and Stefano. The hotel was conveniently located next to Lidl (use as destination for satnav as hotel may not come up given its newness) and was just a short walk to the sights of the old part of Ivrea such as the old castle The facilities were of high quality and would certainly stay there again if the opportinity arose. Secure parking was available.
La Serra was built between 1967 and 1973 by Iginio Cappai and Pietro Mainardis and I travelled to Ivrea specifically to spend a few days in this space: for an architecture enthusiast the experience was simply out of this world. The apartment is organised on three half levels that fold onto themselves in a very creative layout and the original furniture is full of delightful surprises that use this space to its fullest.
The position of the hotel was perfect. It was easy to get to see all the sights in Ivrea. Very handy car parking. The room was very clean and we had a view of the 3 towers of the castle.
Most of the staff are bilingual. Special mention to Samantha, Stefano and Tomas who were very helpful.
Lovely buffet breakfast. We did not eat a meal at the hotel but it did appear to be very popular and always full of diners.
I loved this little hotel, so elegantly designed and comfortable. Louisa was exceptional, communicating and assisting us with our needs. Very friendly and close to the beautiful pedestrian shopping street in Ivrea and of course the beautiful river Dora.
Sarah (I guess the owner) was very welcoming and warm and very helpful. The residence is well placed close to the historic centre of Ivrea. It had nice restaurants in the close vicinity & walks in the garden & along the river were refrshing
All was great - a lovely small hotel with great character. A super breakfast and wonderfully obliging staff. I was arriving late at night - after the reception was closing, and they left very clear directions of how to get in.
We were a huge group of people, so we probably occupied the whole hotel. The apartments were nice and stylish, good eguiped kitchen, most of the beds comfy. Easy check-in and check-out.
This apartment is so charming and comfortable. It is also right in ivrea so walking from the train station or shopping is very easy. The host was very good with communication.
