As a jump off point it is ideal. It is right beside the train station. This is an advantage if you'll be travelling by train. The beach is also a 5min walk away and is not crowded.

Chiavari itself is not a tourist destination, but it is a very friendly city . It has plenty options for shopping and dining. The location is a perfect intermediate point if you are visiting Cinqueterre for one side, and Santa Margherita and Portofino on the other site. Transportation by train to those places is easy and no expensive. Personnel at the train ticket office speaks fluent English and are very helpful when planning you route.

We stayed in Chiavari cause we didn’t find another appropriate accommodation in Cinque Terre, but I’m so glad it happened this way, because Chiavari is one beautiful small town (but not too small), charming and interesting. In my opinion it is more interesting than Cinque Terre. There are a lot of restaurants, bakeries, different shops, beautiful streets, typical italien architecture, sea side and so on. We stayed for two days there, but I will come again for sure, at least for four days or more. It is close to Portofino and Cinque Terre (in a between), has better parking options, there is also a train station and trains go very often to different destinations. Chiavari is a pretty little place right on the beach.
Chiavari is a pretty little place right on the beach. The town centre is porticoes with lots of nice little restaurants. It gets very crowded and expensive in summer, but off season its a lovely place to visit.
The cemetery up the hill is lovely and the centre of town has a nice antiques market one sunday a month. There is a bit of art deco architecture.

Chiavari is a perfect choice if you want to visit around Cinque Terre and Portofino. The prices are great compared to other cities and is very easy to get from Chiavari to visit them by train. We managed to visit everything we had on the list: Cinque Terre, Portofino, San Frutuosso, Genoa, S. Margherita etc. The beach in Chiavari is not that great if you are looking for stunning blue water, but it was easy to travel to other beaches, such as Monterosso.

We have been to Chiavari many times because it combines so many things we enjoy. The sea of course, but also a wonderful evening passagiata, as well as absolutely divine restaurants. The town is compact, with good shopping, ample (paid) parking and delightful piazzas.
Lovely little boat and an amazing host. We were running late but the host was very understanding and met us to explain everything. The boat itself is super clean, with shower and laundry facilities nearby. It's anchored right in the center of town near a bar with the best seafood we ever had. Ask the host for the bar recommendation and try the fish & pizza, you won't be disappointed.
This is one of the loveliest places we stayed on our two month trip. The room was beautiful and the bathroom! Bigger than some hotel rooms we’ve been to. Staff was gracious and helpful. Additionally, there was a notebook with suggested itineraries and restaurant recommendations. Location is perfect—very close to both passagiata and to the sea
Staff were very kind helpful and polite at all times. Room was comfortable, had everything one needed, kettle, tea and coffee was supplied, room cleaned daily, breakfast good. We aet a few times at the hotel restaurant even on Christmas day. It was first class. Location is amazing.
This was a true gem we found in Chiavari! A very beautiful apartment. Everything was impeccable! The apartment, the location and the service! Michele was very helpful!
You can see that the administration pays attention to every detail.
So far, our best experience in Italy!
This is one of the very best properties we have ever stayed in. It was very clean, well decorated with everything you will ever need plus more. We cannot fault anything with this property and Silvia is a first class host. we will definitely be booking here again and again.
The property is in an ideal location, rooms were immaculate and the staff was amazing. The free breakfast exceeded our expectations. We dined at the restaurant and the food was delicious. I highly recommend staying at Hotel Monte Rosa and can’t wait to return!
Hotel was easy to find, our GPS took us directly to it. Wonderfully located only a few steps from the central downtown area which is beautiful and filled with nice shops and many restaurants. Our host, Paulo, could not have been nicer!
Nice Hotel and nice lady at the reception. Didn't speak English, I didn't speak Italian but we could talk with each other using google translator. It is close to the Station and really close to the harbor. Had a great time walking there.
Breakfast is not included, nonetheless it has a really nice bar pastry at the bottom floor. The quality of the food was a good 8 out 10. I would highly suggest this hotel for those who want peace and be close to the train station.
The hotel is in perfect location, a few minutes from train station and the beach. The receptionist girls are very helpful in every question. Breakfast was good but no vegetables but croissants and coffee was delicious.
The best is the location and the staff. It is walking distance to beautiful beaches as well as a start point to do trekking in Chiavari, Lavangna and Rivarola. Staff is very kind and I felt like family!
Good-sized room in largish hotel on one of the main streets in the town centre, an easy walk from the sea-front. Clean, comfortable, good wifi. Good breakfast included in the price. Friendly reception.
Central location. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room has enough space. Big private parking not so far from the hotel. Also possible to park on the street near the hotel.
