The location was amazing for a quiet getaway, the parties in the lawn notwithstanding. Its a great place if you want to stay in the hotel, but for everything else you need to have a car. Also, the restaurant needs a major improvement. Myt wife got food poisoning on the second day and the food was completely underwhelming. The place is situated in a tea estate, the least that could be done was to give good tea. But alas, that was not the case at all.
Situated in Kurseong, The River View Homestay offers free WiFi. All rooms boast a kitchen and a private bathroom. All rooms come with a balcony with mountain views.

If the weather was good, it looked like I could see the good view from the room of Swastika, but I could not see clearly even the closest hill because it was too hazy. I heard from local people many times it is very hazy in April. Anyway it's not the fault of Swatika.
The family running Swastika was very friendly. They have a small and beautiful family temple on the top floor, which is good for meditation. The location is very convenient, close to everything - SBI ATM, jeep stand, supermarket and tea garden.
Swabhumi Homestay, a property with a garden, is set in Kurseong, 29 km from Tiger Hill, 24 km from Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary, as well as 26 km from Ghoom Monastery.

Kurseong is a hidden Gem, it's a must place for mountain lovers. Its just an hour drive from Bagdogra airport. The climate is awesome, sun rises pretty early , the scene of sun rising is so picturesque. By afternoon 1.30 2.00pm , when generally all other hill stations are burning up in summer Kurseong starts cooling down and it's nice by 3.00. People of Kurseong are warm, helping and the local food although simple but delicious. I would love to settle down in such a place.
Since Darjeeling the queen of hills is cramped and packed during seasons , One should visit this place which is very close to Darjeeling. Numerous option of Home stays are available at kurseong.
We sat in the toy train which gives a joy ride from Darjeeling to Ghum and Back it was a worthless ride as lots of structures have come up close to the train so the joyride isn't picturesque although they are improving the quality of the train but u can see more of cars running here and there then the mountains and valleys so u can avoid this ride and save on money.

Lovely place steeped in history of the colonial time.
Lovely place steeped in history of the colonial time. I would recommend people going upto Darjeeling to spend a day or two in Kurseong as well instead of just stopping by the place for a meal. This busy but quite town provides an insight into city life in the hills along with providing you with the tranquility and majestic view of the kanchenjunga. If the history of Subhas Bose House arrest in Sarat Bose House at Gidda Pahar village in Kurseong beckons you then it's for you. If you like to go on leisurely afternoon walks and gorge on some delicious chicken cutlets at the Kurseong tourist lodge, some pork momos and pork rice bowl at 33 Dreams Cafe while ending the day at Eagle's Crag sunset suits you, this city is for you. If you love to see a steam engine toy train whizz past you as you dine at a colonial cafe de central restaurant in the heritage railway station then this place for you. Other than that there are some small waterfalls, iconic British era churches and iconic mountain viewpoints and tea gardens like Makaibari, and don't miss the giant Hanuman statue overlooking the hills at I love Kurseong view point and the haunting dense forest of dowhill. Please have the different varieties of pork sausages, muffins and tea at Margaret's Deck

Swastika Homestay in Kurseong is the best part in Kurseong, whether you describe it as a home, family apartment, backpackers den, food hub, homestay and everthing that words can say. YOu meet new group of people who will become a new family. Family people and newly weds are running around the house learning new skills. It a festival meet as if to say , when you land up here. Swastika and her family are faboulous!! Swastika is extremely talented from cooking skills to her education!! She is a greta host!! The best food I had in entire Darjeeling district.
