Breakfast was excellent. The friendly service and hospitality of the staff. We also organised a party in the evening and the service during the setting up of the room and serving the three course meal was excellent. All staff very polite when serving and catered for everyone’s needs.
The Priory is nestled within the historic town of Caerleon on the River Usk. Dating back to 1180, this hotel was originally a Cistercian monastery.

Lovely atmosphere, helpful staff, fascinating building beautifully laid out and equipped. Service and food (breakfast) good. Thoughtful details and very high standard of furnishing, amenities and comfort in bedroom and bathroom. Everything working perfectly and very clean.
Would have loved to stay longer and now I know where it is I must find a reason to go back for a leisure stay.
This historic country inn has delicious food and luxury rooms. It is within a few km of the famous Celtic Manor Resort, home of the 2010 Ryder Cup. The Old Barn Inn dates back to the early 1750s.

I never imagined a major town in South Wales could be so run down. I checked out of the accomodation a day early and found myself in the High Street around 0830. I had an hour or so here before my train out of town and I saw nothing of interest to a visitor.

First time in Wales for me.
First time in Wales for me. Everywhere we went met with friendly people. Even the girl in Next chatted while serving me and laughed with me about my day.Family meal (14 of us) at TGF. Made welcome and served with a smile all evening.
Coffee shops also had staff interested in our stories.
Pity we live in Perth with 8 hour drive as liked people and places and a return trip maybe when newlyweds have family

The room was good, the pool was out of commission which spoiled the weekend because that made the jacuzzi impossible to gain entrance to due to the amount of people being let down on the pool. Food was perfect.

We walked in to Maindee for a meal on Sat evening, expecting a better selection than we found....but an interesting Caribbean Restaurant ( a bit more like a cafe really) but the food was OK and freshly prepared and the price was reasonable

There is a lot to like about Newport and the surrounding countryside. My favourite feature is without doubt the famous 'Transporter Bridge'. You have the choice of numerous venues for both Rugby and Football matches and a great selection of local Parkruns.
The location is great. We were at the front of the hotel overlooking the Bull Inn, which was very noisy but it was a holiday and the weather was amazingly warm so there were lots of people there. The hotel and staff were great. Our only disappointment was with the breakfast. The Spanish influence ruined the food and they should offer local produce to enhance the stay as we were in Wales after all. If the breakfast had been more traditional we would have rated our stay perfect.
Two big houses on a main road just a little out of town, on the east side of river Usk. A polite welcome. Though I was on my own, I was allocated a big room with three single beds, fitted out in very 1970s hotel style but perfectly comfortable and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was OK, in a basic canteen-style room. It was a very fleeting stay -- got to Newport mid-evening and checked out immediately after breakfast to go to a meeting -- but efficient and good value for money.
It's a workies hotel, grubby and worn, not the best, if you need a cheap room for the night, or maybe just a couple of hours then it is fine. it is literally feet from the M4 so it is handy. Place stinks throughout but the room was fine. Certainly not a place to stay for a holiday. Breakfast is basically cornflakes and stale pastries and you have to wait because the breakfast room doesn't have enough tables.
Excellent breakfast, superb staff, interesting building with sympathetic renovation. Will be going back as soon as we can and taking our family. We were given the WiFi code when we checked in, the hotel is in a great location with a cycle/walking route that goes to Newport. Two museums within walking distance and a historic walk around the village. Lovely outside seating area with well kept gardens
I was attending a conference at the ICC and planned to cycle there each day. The hotel were happy for me to keep my bike in my room so it was secure and arranged for me to have a ground floor room near the door to make that easier to achieve.
The staff were all friendly and helpful and the food at the Hungry Horse was cheap and tasty.
The bed was comfortable and the heating was excellent!
Staff were lovely and helpful. Might need to do some local advertisement in regard to the hotel as anytime we mentioned where we were staying, no one was aware of the hotel (it used to be Yates then Premier Inn I think), especially taxi drivers - one Taxi driver mentioned he wasn't aware the hotel existed till 2 weeks ago. Another taxi driver didn't hear of it.
Very friendly and relaxing hotel. wonderful countryside location. great family swimming pool and spa facilities. comfortable bar and residents dinning and games areas. large free car park for guests. easy access to Newport city centre. Excellent Raods and tail transport.
Very good location for shops and pubs / restaurants. Parking literally opposite the hotel for which the hotel get a discounted rate. Right next to the train and bus station so getting around is no issue. This hotel feels and looks like a Premier Inn.
It was a last minute decision to stay over in Newport. We have never stayed in this hotel before . Great price with friendly helpful staff , lovely warm welcome.
Amenities brill and breakfast was delish

The room was good and clean. Breakfast had a good selection of food. The dinner service was good. Internet service was good too. I will return to this hotel when I go back to Newport.
