Close to the Cardiff airport, with helpful staff. The breakfast bag for early morning departures is a gem of a good deal - hearty breakfast bap, fruit, juice, yogurt, muffin, croissant and granola bar. If not using a private car, then taxi fare is 8 British pounds, flat fee. Walking is possible, but without a pathway, one must be careful. There is sufficient parking, and the restaurant does have a variety of dinner options, and offers breakfast.
As others have noted, the mattress is not foam, but has springs, which some may no longer be used to. A hair dryer may be requested from the front desk. The price is a good value.
This large Victorian building has character. 40 minutes from Cardiff city center and 20 minutes from Cardiff International Airport, and less than 2 miles from the beach.

Barry is my husbands home town. It is always good to visit.
Barry is my husbands home town. It is always good to visit. We usually stay in the Vale but this time we thought we would go for a cheaper option on the coast.
We were shocked at how disinterested our hosts were in our plight of arriving late at night due to 2 aircraft malfunctions. We had to stay elsewhere for the first night because they would not allow us entry to the flat despite them taking payment in full from our credit card.
Their main concern was whether we would dispose of the rubbish. There was no broom to sweep the floor. The plastic floor was beginning to peel and there were way too many pots of plastic cactus left lying about the place. Why?
There was a frying pan full of smelly fat left in the oven. the bed was way too small for two people and full of dips from previous occupants. For the first time in 42 years of being together we slept separately, My partner taking one of the single beds. The kitchen taps looked like someone had taken out their frustrations with a hammer.
On the plus side parking was good as was the location.

I stayed in Barry for 3 nights.
I stayed in Barry for 3 nights. I was visiting Wales for the Six Nations at Principality Stadium in Cardiff. There are plenty of hotels in Cardiff, but the prices were all excessive because of the Rugby event. Barry is nearby, a short, 4 quid train ride away from Cardiff Central which is pretty much the center of action, to include a short walk to the stadium.
Barry itself was a nice, quiet detour away from the Capitol city. I enjoyed a few restaurants and bars while staying in this small town.
I did not rent a car. Walked everywhere I needed within Barry.

Clean hotel room, lacking many amenities,No change of towels for 4days. Very cold, fobbed off by a lady staff member with... There's nothing wrong with the heating?? Yet it was freezing most of our stay.As for disabled catered for... No safety rails in the bathroom/ shower,, disheveled room..IE.. The curtains were hanging off to which I had to constantly put back up. Not a HOTEL to stay at again.

Barry is a wonderful relaxing family friendly place with friendly people, beautiful seaside and a lovely food. The price for everything is much lower than in London. I was shocked when I payed £3.50 for a glass of a nice red wine in a pub :)
Located about a 10 minute walk from the Barry Train Station, which is very accessible to nearby CARDIFF.
I liked the dine and drink options in Barry. Several options within the Goodstay compound. And downtown Barry is loaded with pubs and restaurants, all within walking distance.
My main reason for staying here was to watch the Rugby Six Nations at Principality Stadium...but the lodging costs in Cardiff were excessive. Goodstay Lodges worked out really, really well, for the most part.
Reasonably close to Cardiff but the quiet village location is delightful. Next door to a really intersting historic church.
The owners and staff all very friendly and welcoming and the breakfast and evening meal were delicious.
The back story of the ownership of this pub is very uplifting and you get a real sense of community here.
Welcoming staff, happy to answer any query. Lots going on in the bar in the evening. Room was basic but satisfactory for what we needed for the cost. It was around 50 min walk to Barry Island front (with kids!) Towels & toiletries in the room which was good.
Breakfast was well-cooked with plenty of options but I would have liked to see fresh fruit or other healthy alternatives available. Plenty of on-road parking available and hotel is within easy walking distance of Barry’s innovative shops and the seafront.
Nice quiet location. Easy parking. Comfortable bed. Every convenience in the flat you have at home and then some. Spotless clean and the host checked to see if you were happy. It didn’t hurt that everyone in Barry was so friendly as well.
Clean, modern accomodation with parking for two cars. 3 rooms ideal for friends and small families.Good location for accessing Cardiff, Barry, Coastal path and South Wales.
I couldn't really fault the hotel. Yes it's a bit basic and the room does admittedly have a slightly "old" feeling to it, but for the price and location it's just great.
