A suburb of Munich, which is nevertheless well connected to Munich by metro and other transport. Its main asset is the Gashing Research Center together with the European Southern Observatory Office. It will always be a recognized travel destination for education and science workers.

The friendliness and efficiency of the staff was excellent both at reception and in dining area. We'll be very happy to book IBIS on our next trip to Muenchen. The closeness of the U-Bahn station is especially helpful.

I arrived when Garching bei Munchen was celebrating Burge Woche. What could be more fun than Bavarian food everywhere and lots of local beer, not to mention the music and the booths selling everything. Yes, I have lived in Garching bei Munchen for 6 months and worked at the Technical University of Munich when I was there, so I might be biased in having enjoyed myself in the many restaurants, at the concerts and at the beer garden that is just outside Garching, but, in general, as a small town, it is worth a visit, if only for the strawberry picking or a picnic along the Isar.

We were tired and did not have a lot of time before our meeting in the center of Munich - we called Uber. The taxi arrived quickly, the drive was not too long and reasonably priced. There is no ultimate need to call the taxi to go to Munich though - direct metro line to the city center is in short walking distance from the hotel.
