A BEAUTIFUL friendly city with one of the best street markets (produce, fish, bread - all harvested and produced locally !) in Germany. The people who live here are so friendly, the cafés so delicious, and the local beer freshly brewed. The Theater has wonderful performances that I can highly recommend.GGraceBMCanada - 8.0Scored 8.0

The place is spotless, I lived here as a British service child. It seems to have much changed on the surface (well it would in 49 years!). The town is very quiet which is great if you like a peaceful night. It's in a beautiful part of the country with much to explore. If you like burgers look no further than Cafe Outback. I had the best burger and bratkartoffeln in years!

A very small town where there is not much to do, one day is enough to see everything. Haven't had the time to hike in nature, guess that can be a nice thing to do here. Was here for a reuse of modernist building workshop.

The house itself, like most others in Detmold, is indeed very interesting and beautiful, both from the outside and inside. The studio apartment on the top floor was equipped with a modern kitchen, but we didn't needed it due to all the close-by options. The small dining/living room is also big enough for 2 people. You can park for free above the Palaisgarten, just a 15min walk uphill.

Really was very easy to get to town on foot. The owner incredibly helpful and responsive. Next time I come to Detmold I would definitely look here first. I was there in the winter and it felt snug and safe. I can see it being great in the summer too. Cannot rate this highly enough.

Room was a bit cold when we arrived but with the heater it was no problem. Bed was quite comfortable.
