The hotel has a good location, next to the station and a five minute walk from the town centre. It is a cheap option for somewhere to stay, and the restaurant stays open late, which is good news if you arrive late in the evening

The rooms are in a beautiful old manor house surrounded by exceptional gardens. The rooms were very comfortable, very clean and decorated with pieces of furniture from the house. Our room had a lovely attached bathroom. It would be best to have your own car if staying here, but we did find a restaurant that is walkable for dinner (about 20 mins along a country lane).
This city may be not at your radar screen and may be easily...
This city may be not at your radar screen and may be easily eclipsed by Brussels, Gent or Antwerp - but if you decide to visit Mons, you will be surprised how many things it has to offer. A plethora of restaurants and bars, magnificent churches, interesting museums (Mons Memorial, Doudou Museum, Mundaneum, art museum - well, now in renovation but organising events, the Belfry and more) and, most of all, a great atmosphere of a typical Waloon city, the streets that can lead you to new discoveries... I was really enchanted! And it will be even better as one can see a lot of restoration works in the city ongoing, including a, well, imposing, railway station. This city has a potential, indeed.

Mons is the site of the first contact between the British...
Mons is the site of the first contact between the British Expeditionary Force and the invading German armies in August 1914. The British were stuck in a difficult position owing to the fact that their flanking French allies had retreated without informing the British, and they had to dig in along the Mons-Conde-Charleroi canal, which they held against all odds for the day of 23rd August 1914. Not only were the first shots exchanged here, but also the first two Victoria Crosses were won during the battle. If you have a good guide or guidebook, the greater part of the battlefield is largely unchanged, and after a day of looking round, you have the town square of Mons, where the troops rested before moving up to contact. The square is unchanged, and anyone who has seen any of the photos taken at the time will be able to situate themselves easily - while enjoying a beer of a meal at any of the town's excellent bars and restaurants. I recommend the Lebanese restaurant on the main square.

The area around the railway station is under contruction (for years); however this small city is charming. The central square with a renaissance city hall and many terraces is beautiful and lively and there are some interesting sights to see (museums, church, belfry). On the other side of the station is a big modern shopping mall.

This was just a stopover on our homeward journey. There is a HUGE redevelopment at the station just opposite the hotel, although they had stopped work when we got there. We might come back in two years to see the work when it is finished. Right now it looks like a giant spaceship!

Rather lovely city to walk in and enjoy the cosy streets.
Rather lovely city to walk in and enjoy the cosy streets. The Belfry and historical city hall and surrounding buildings are very nice to see and visit. The city offers big brand shops but also smaller niche stores when you look for it. Great chocolate milk by the way at the Texas café :)

Town has a much old world charm.
Town has a much old world charm. Can be run down in places and main shopping street appears to be struggling to compete with large out of centre shopping complex and the internet.
The Cathedral is worth a visit.
Le Grand Pres shopping centre is massive with a huge range of high quality vendors.
The hotel is located not far from the city center but was not difficult to drive to. The reception was very friendly upon arrival and offered parking at the location. I was shown my room and the air conditioner was already on so the room was very cool, something I very much appreciated since it was very humid outside. The room was very nice with a huge bathtub, small kitchen, separate shower with toilet room, and a lovely bed. The room was very quiet despite the city outside which was also really nice!
This is a splendid hotel, right in town but quiet at night. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and the facilities were great. we wished we’d had more than one night as it would have been good to dine in, it looked like a great restaurant. we did have a drink outside in the little bar and that was nice.
Breakfast was extensive and we took full advantage of bacon and eggs followed by pastries and plenty of good coffee.
The room was large and airy, massive shower and everything you could need!
Very nice room in this lodging, it was big, quiet and comfortable. Good wifi. Owner explained what to see in the city, as well as suggestions for where to have dinner and breakfast. It is located in a very central street of Mons and from there you can walk and visit the attractions. Many restaurants and shops in the area. Train station is about 15 minutes walk.
The location near the center of Mons worked well for us, walking distance to several restaurants and a good grocery store, as well as near the Christmas market and historical sites. Although it is an older hotel, the bathroom has been properly modernized. The mini kitchenette was a useful addition.
The room and the hotel were clean and quiet. I feel really good there and we were welcomed in the reception without any problem :) This hotel meet my expectations. We chose this hotel during our visit to see the Festival of Lights in Mons and the location of this hotel was perfect for this event.
very comfortable bed, nice bathroom and Serge was very nice and helped us out to find our way around Mons as well as helping us out when we realised we’d forgotten to bring a phone charger adapter. it was great value for the quality of the accommodation! would highly recommend if staying in Mons!
A charming historical building that is being renovated. Serge, the owner, is extremely friendly and helpful. Very nice room with a convenient and fully equipped kitchen for all guests to share. Free, gated parking in front of the hotel I will stay again on my next business trip.
A very nice big apartment in the centre of Mons and therefore close to everything. Dining table doubles as pool table which was a fun extra activity to have available to us. The hostess was friendly and welcoming and gave tips to sights as well as where to park.
The apartments are managed from Hotel Lido, just on the other side of the street where the buildings are located, so you can benefit 24/7 reception and assistance. Rooms are small and distributed on 3 floors: for a short term stay it's quite OK.
Simple straightforward hotel. very friendly staff. 10 mins walk to the city centre. small but elegant, Mons is somewhere you need a day visit for. Hotel is perfect for such a visit.
Breakfast is worth it.
People from the hotel (reception/staff) were very friendly; no bridge too far. Our room was very cozy with a stylish design, better combination of both practical and esthetical. A place to return to!
