Set within a former residence of local merchant, Inase Otsu Machiya Bed and Breakfast is set in Otsu, 700 metres from Mii-dera Temple. Each room is fitted with a flat-screen TV. Cultural preservation project. The repurposed rooms hallways and dining area are spacious and airy. the breakfast was excellent and local every detail suggested I'd literally time traveled 80 or more years. Perfect location to visit the countryside of Japan. This is the real Japan with Koi carpers swimming in river-like gutters and friendly helpfull villagers. On top of this, Kyoto is only half an hour away by train. We came for a nice, relaxing place to stay but got a family who was so warm and welcoming. Mizu, the hostess of Smile guesthouse is a very kind and helpful person who speaks good English. She helped and guided us to make our stay even better. The guest house is a traditional Japanese house. Beautiful and full of details. And next to that you can eat fresh strawberries at the Tanaberry farm, which is a 8 minutes walking distance. We can recommend everyone to stay here. As we immediately extended our stay the day we arrived and are planning to definitely stay again the next time we travel to Japan.

My wife and I are not young folks anymore. The trip to the bathroom during the night was somewhat difficult for us. The bedroom was on the upper floor in the lovely traditional Japanese house. The narrow stairway was challenging for us. There is ample room downstairs and perhaps owners would accommodate a request to put the bedding there.

Excellent stay at this beautiful guest house during our cycle around Lake Biwa! It's an absolute gem of a place. The property itself is very well maintained, with traditional features throughout (such as the tatami room and the Kotatsu in the living room). The owners were extremely friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we had a comfortable stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would love to come back! Highly recommended.

מקום האירוח Jonni`s Place שוכן בSakamoto, במרחק של 14 ק''מ מהר הייאי ו-14 ק''מ ממקדש אנריאקו-ג'י. Jonni was a very friendly and helpful host. He did his best to accommodate us and gave us recommendations. A very good host for foreign tourists and those who'd like to see Sakamoto and Kyoto. He also provided some bread/snacks every morning for breakfast. He had great recommendations for lunch! And if you have some downtime, Jonni is a very interesting person to talk to!
