Each morning, the hotel offers a hearty breakfast. A range of cold platters and snacks are available to order, and the property can recommend and book local restaurants for an evening meal. You can also relax on site in a cosy lounge with a log fire, while the residents bar offers an extensive wine and drinks menu. The staff were very friendly. It was lovely to be able to help ourselves to tea/coffee, scones/pastries when we came in after being out all day. Location was excellent.

Ambleside Salutation Hotel & Spa is set in a 17th-century building, and has a leisure club with a swimming pool, sauna, spa bath and steam room. There is also a fitness centre and beauty spa. We liked everything, but mostly the staff service. Each of the staff members seemed to make our stay comfortable and happy by anticipating our needs and solving any little problem we had. The morning breakfast was excellent. The Hotel is situated in a quiet but lovely center, and the entrance is easy (we had some thought when booking because the picture on the website showed many steps leading to the entrance, but when we arrived, we realized that the entrance is on the side and very convenient). Unfortunately, we didn't have time to spend in the spa but we checked it and it seems excellent.

The hotel has some of the best on-site facilities in the area, half of the rooms with hot tubs on private balconies, an on-site spa with poolside seating and a bar, stylish restaurant and cocktail bar, bike hire, wakesurfing and paddleboading. The facility and the people were exceptional. My wife and I enjoyed every minute of the trip. Please keep me posited with every new thing in this great resort.

Located in the heart of the Lake District and just 5 minutes' drive from Ambleside, Foxghyll Country House offers free WiFi access and free on-site parking. Set within 3 acres of private gardens, this large country house dates back to the 1600s and has direct access to Loughrigg Fell.

In the mornings, guests at the Foxghyll Country House can enjoy full cooked breakfast. Amazing breakfast, superb attentive hosts, lovely welcome and thoughtful hospitality: maps, umbrellas torches walking sticks immaculate garden warm fires etc

A maximum of 5 guests can use the leisure club's swimming pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, solarium and gymnasium. John, the owner, was very kind and available when we needed him. The house is really big and it has everything you may possibly need for your stay. The place was also clean and close to many shops, restaurants, and other fabulous villages! We are a couple with four small children and we definitely felt at home!

Rooms all feature a large widescreen TV with satellite channels, a DVD player, and a king-size bed and luxury bathroom. Some luxury suites have outdoor hot tubs and seating areas. Property was immaculate. Absolutely stunning.

The 5-star Beaumont House is a Victorian property featuring many original features with a tranquil location, just metres from the heart of Windermere. It offers delicious cooked breakfasts, free Wi-Fi and free private parking, less than 10 minutes' walk away from Windermere Railway Station. Staff were very friendly and warm and made the stay enjoyable. Good proximity to areas with many restaurants.

Excellent breakfast, very nice welcome, comfortable room, great location, and the owner Rich is a genuine nice guy who provides a professional, quality, discreet service. He merits the high rating.
