I was there to visit my son and his wife. Although we had lots of activities planned we were not able to do them all because the main point of the trip was to visit. We went to the Virginia Transportation Museum and it was better than I was expecting.

Salem is a small safe hometown.
Salem is a small safe hometown. Southern hospitality and beautiful mountains surrounding you. I grew up here and have wonderful memories of family and friends that are lasting a lifetime from Salem.
Several restaurants and places to eat. I Iove to grab some Sam’s hot dogs and sit at the duck pond with my family!
Several antique shops and quaint restaurants to choose from!
It is a quaint town with lots of Southern hospitality. Several convenient hotels are available.
The only downside is West Main Street is very congested at times.

Salem is a small relaxed town with very friendly folks.
Salem is a small relaxed town with very friendly folks. My dog and I were there staying at a nearby hotel overnight and were walking downtown, really nice town. Interesting, the downtown was on one stretch of the road with locally owned stores, at the other end of Main Street, a very long street, is more mainstream commercial. I found a really great restaurant downtown that served healthy foods named Elderberries. I would recommend the restaurant, as well as Salem, if you are looking for a small town to explore with really friendly folks, framed by really beautiful mountains.

The room was a perfect size for 2 people, however the loveseat and carpet was EXTREMELY dirty. Also we had to get our key cards recoded several times a day. Even then it would take us anywhere from 3-12 tries to get the door to unlock.

A great little city to spend a day or two, close to Roanoke with a few more attractions. Great downtown area that you can easily walk with antique stores, a brewery, and good restaurants. Roanoke College grounds are very nice. Anything else you may need is on the main road further down from the downtown area.

Salem is a great little town that’s very close to Roanoke...
Salem is a great little town that’s very close to Roanoke and tons of hiking and biking trails. We especially enjoyed McAfee Knob, a local 8-mile hike. There’s a lot to do around the area, much of it free, and plenty of good restaurants, such as Table 50 and El Jefe. Blue Cow is a small batch ice cream establishment that I definitely recommend! Everyone was super friendly, and we would definitely visit again.
Location was clean and easily accessed off I-81. The front desk clerk at check in was efficient and followed hotel policies to the letter. It was a clean quiet room with a wealth of amenities at a budget hotel price. The morning manager/owner was honest and good to talk with. The restaurant right beside the hotel was delicious, good prices and they discount your meals if you show them your room card. I'll be booking another stay there shortly.
the hotel was fine but when I tried to cancel my second night with booking.com they were unreachable. Neveer book with them as you will not get your money back and they will ask for your reservation number and pin number which did not exist and furthermore they scrambled my email address so you could never reach them. I think this is the plan so they will NOT have to return your money. NEVER NEVER book with booking.com they are crooks!!!!!!!
Nothing. It was the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed at. My room had no hot water, and the cold would not close. When I asked for another room, the manager said they were fully booked when they were clearly not. He sent the maintenance guy, who could fix the problem, and convinced the manager to give us another room.
Overall, this hotel was very nice. Everything was very clean, even the elevators and stairwells. The breakfast area was set up nicely with lots of room and there was a nice variety of food choices. I would recommend this location.
this is my “go to” hotel when I travel to and from New York. it’s convenient, clean and I like the gym. the staff is always nice and friendly. I brought a friend with me this time and she also liked the facility.
Everything was as expected. We only stayed for a stopover on a longer roadtrip, and to that end it was perfect. Plenty of restaurants around the corner, clean and tidy, and one of the better hotel gyms you'll see.
Convenient to downtown Salem. 2 restaurants in the building. Great home, feel you can even fix a pizza in the kitchen. The bedroom was restful and comfortable.
We always stay at this hotel when we come to the area. The beds are comfortable and I love that there are full size shampoo, conditioner and body wash 😊
