Hosts are lovely- welcoming and helpful. Love the historic neighborhood and property. They’re still renovating but it’s already very cool. Great vibe mixing some modern elements while respecting the gorgeous vintage bones of the mansion.

    Loved the actual castle..

Loved the actual castle..Our Overall experience was limited as we..basically..just utiluzed the venue to sleep...There were basically no accommodations on site during our visit...Location was a bit more "Urban" than expected. Quite benign eating options as restaurant facility within the castle is closed in off season times and the "Fully Stocked Snack Bar" in the room was 3 packs of crackers..H2O..Coffee. There's a GORGEOUS Period dining area we would gave LOVED to experience.

Amsterdam did not seem to have many tourist attractions, and the street layout in the downtown was very confusing with one way streets and only one bridge crossing the Mohawk River. It was hard to access the Mohawk River to take a walk from downtown. I eventually gave up trying. It was also hard to find a breakfast restaurant. Ultimately, I ended up eating in a different town.

I would recommend the Raindancer Restaurant for Dinner.

I would recommend the Raindancer Restaurant for Dinner. Excellent food and staff. The prime rib is beyond excellent. You can choose from a 16 oz. to a 32 oz. huge prime rib. They also have a huge selection of seafood as well.

The Castle is an exciting place to stay - lots of history,...

The Castle is an exciting place to stay - lots of history, congenial staff, our suite was more than adequate - very roomy and comfortable. It was, at one time, an Armory. The town has limited options for dining, but easy to travel nearby to find good restaurants. Snacks, bottled water, coffee, tea, microwave and fridge were included. Large flat screen TV with local and cable channels - (no pay for view movies) The restaurant and bar, in the castle, was closed during the week, however staff happily provided ice, and disposable plates and silverware for the food we ordered and brought in. In the winter, the main entrance (driveway) was closed due to icy conditions, as this property is high on a hill overlooking the city, Access is in the back to check in - Free parking and convenient rolling racks for luggage are right at the door. The place is very quiet - a wonderful getaway or stop over if travelling thru. Excellent pricing and value. We were there during the cold months so not convenient to walk around the town. Lovely museum and attractions nearby (short ride away). Lots of information at the front desk about goings on in the area. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Eager to talk about the history of the Buildng.

Beautifully kept facility with very comfortable rooms.

Beautifully kept facility with very comfortable rooms. The only problem right now is that the Continental breakfast and morning coffee and tea service is not available due to Coronavirus restrictions and nothing in its place. There are coffee and tea in the rooms but there is no microwave, and no vending machine with snacks or drinks at the location. They do provide plenty of bottled water. The summer rate is in effect right now and there is no discount for the change in services so I won't be staying again until the fall.

Cute place. Not fancy but very quaint.

Cute place. Not fancy but very quaint. It's very reasonable, very quiet (there are train whistles in the distance) and very clean. The rooms are nice. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a castle and really pretty cool. The only issue we had was that neither of us slept well. The mattress was too soft and springy for our liking. We both woke up with back/neck pain and neither of us have back/neck problems. Also, the pillows kept falling through the bed frame requiring frequent repositioning all night long. We've been there twice and I would definitely recommend it to others but with the bed issue, I wouldn't stay for an extended period of time. We didn't have a chance to try the restaurant and small bar (which weren't there the first time) but I'd like to if we go again.

New, clean hotel conveniently located to Amsterdam and travelers on the NY State Turnpike. The rooms were clean and very modern. They included a long, narrow counter with power and USB connections for computers and phones. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was clean and interestingly only contained a shower, not a shower/tub combo which was fine with me. And the it was reasonably priced. A good value.

Excellent Art around each room and the entire castle. Knights in shining armor, Gargoyles, banners and many other artifacts made for a fun visit. Well stocked snack, coffee & tea service in each room was just as convenient as a continental breakfast. GREAT stay overall and look forward to going back! Late check-in was no problem... even had 1 more parking space for us!

The castle was beautiful and just what we expected for a "castle. Really cool place. We were traveling by bicycles on the Erie Canal Path/Empire State Trail and they had indoor bikes racks for the bikes in the back garage. Awesome for bike riders. The room was modern and very clean.

The uniqueness of the property was really fun. Had a nice room. Also there was a room where President John F. Kennedy had visited that was available as a sitting room and I really liked that experience. Hotel is located high up on a hill where the view was very nice.

This is a diamond in the rough. Really well done adaptive reuse of an old State Armory. Amsterdam has its challenges as a city and community but this property and its staff represent the community in a very positive way.

We loved that the hotel feels like a castle. Our room was huge- we went with the one with a King and queen bed and the living room area was quite large as well.
