Just an hour or so outside San Francisco, Sonoma is a picturesque city set among the vineyards in Northern California. It features a beautiful square with galleries, shops and restaurants. They often feature live music in the square. Great for a long weekend, the vineyards offer tours and tastings. There is also a wonderful cheese shop there. If you enjoy being active, don’t miss the hiking/biking trails in the area.

It is a quiet and over-looked town! MUST SEE! They have a cute downtown Sonoma Plaza, with a Visitor Bureau with free coupons (2 for 1 wine tasting), lots of cute and varied shops and restaurants. There are also a lot of museums and the Sonoma Mission right there. We visited Buena Vista, Gundlach Bundschu, and Jacuzzi wineries--ALL were beautiful! We had a great dining experience at Sonoma Grill and Bar in the back terrace.

Downtown Sonoma is a quaint town with cafes, galleries, a movie theater, and most importantly, two ice cream shops (we chose the Chocolate Cow). We also found a wonderful hike nearby called Sonoma Overlook in the downtown area. About 1.3 miles up for a beautiful view of the city.

If you like wine, this is the place for you.
If you like wine, this is the place for you. We were attending a wedding and on our downtime looked for places to hike and for other things to do. The hike we chose had no parking at the trailhead (?!) and it was hot so we gave up. There are cutesy shops in Sonoma, but, like cutesy shops everywhere, prices are inane. We enjoyed walking around the historical buildings in downtown Sonoma and learning about Gen. Vallejo. NO mosquitoes but not much to do if you don’t want to taste wine.
Nice room in a nice location and was well positioned to explore the town.
We had arrived having stayed at The Coachman's Inn at Carmel and had benefitted from the service and the experience there. In isolation our experience at The Inn at Sonoma was good and it's only that The Coachman's Inn had a better and more interesting breakfast and the 'nibbles' at the afternoon wine tasting were more varied and tasty, and our room there was bigger.
Excellent car parking (some covered), a hot tub and fitness room were available.
The Cottage Inn and Spa is lovely and perfectly located just a block away from Sonoma Square. It’s in a quiet neighborhood close to the bike/walking path. The Inn is clean and comfortable, and the staff is very welcoming and great at making suggestions about things to do. I stayed in the Alta Suite, which is beautiful and comfortable. They leave breakfast at your door every morning. I would highly recommend for a long weekend and will definitely return. Thank you for a great stay.
The location is only a 5-6 minute drive to the heart of Sonoma. Since it is also within 30-40 minutes of the towns of Napa, Petaluma, Sebastopol and Bodega Bay, it is a good location for visiting many Sonoma County locations without a long drive. The interior decor is quite pleasing. The best restaurants are closer to downtown, but the old-style diner that is part of the main building has excellent breakfast and lunch offerings.
My friend and I stayed here while visiting wineries in Sonoma and Napa! Clean, comfortable room and super friendly staff! Easy walk to the famous Sonoma Square, full of restaurants, tasting rooms and a picturesque walking trail. We loved staying at Seven Branches Inn! We appreciated the complimentary ice water and glassware that was available to all guests in the common kitchen area upstairs near all the rooms.
The hotel's appearance overall was attractive, with trees and plants surrounding the building and the inner pool area. The room was quiet, spacious, and very comfortable. Breakfast choices were more than adequate. The location is walking distance from the square and from the events we attended. Having shops nearby was a plus.
Had one night stay here lovely helpful staff and lots of added extras, cooked breakfast, wine and cheese and snacks in the evening. We walked to Sonoma Plaza 15-20 minutes however most people had cars which would have been easier especially if wine touring. Very quiet and spacious lounge and dining area if you wanted to mingle
The rooms and common facilities were immaculate. Fantastic, helpful front desk staff. Loved the treats and coffee. I even left an article behind and staff recovered and mailed it back to me. Great hotel to base yourself in for Sonoma sights and experiences. The breakfast was good, nice selection of breads and cereal.
I loved the hospitality of the owner. She is a long time resident of Sonoma. Very hospitable and although the building was older, it had character, nicely done, clean, comfortable bed, good closet space, and cute little working kitchen! So quaint and so close to center of town!
THe location was perfect for our stay in Sonoma. The property is within walking distance to the city square & many local restaurants & wineries. Our room was well stocked & very quiet at night. We'd definately stay at this property again without hesitation.
The location is absolutely perfect for being in downtown Sonoma. With a 2 minute walk you can get to great restaurants, wineries and cultural sites. The bed at the cottage is extremely comfortable. Everything in he cottage is well appointed.
Great stay, have been here a few times already and will continue to come back when we travel to Sonoma/Napa. Great location right in the town square, easy to walk to do wine tastings or have a delicious dinner in town. Highly recommend!
Great location on the historic Sonoma Plaza. Walkable to shops, restaurants and wine tasting. Restaurant had good food. staff was friendly and helpful. Espresso in rooms. Coffee in the lobby each morning. Bathrobes provided.
A perfect setting in Sonoma with a very welcoming and friendly staff. Comfortable rooms with a nice atmospere. On top of that a great restaurant with a good and wide winelist. A strong 10 out of 10.
Love the property’s beautiful scenery and seating areas around it. Location is phenomenal with walking distance to Sonoma’s Plaza Park, restaurants, trails, wine tastings.
The room and the bed were quite comfy! The continental breakfast had lots of good options! The hotel is close to Sonoma Plaza. I would highly recommend El Pueblo Inn.
Clean, welcoming, and excellent location walking distance from Sonoma square. Enjoyed breakfasts, evening wine tastings and soaking in the hot tub on second floor.
